    First of all, your drive has to be formatted to put things on it.
    Second of all, desktop files, the desktop database, icons, etc all take up at least the minimum space that is available to a file.
    say you have a 3k file, but the minimum size is 4k.
    There's 1k you just can't use.

    You might get more HD space if you format it as a unix file system instead of hierarchical file system. (ufs is for OS X only)

    I had an encryption scheme that relied on dns numbers to encrypt tself so that it could only be read by the intended receiver.

    However, as the company I was doing it for stole it from me, I didn't mention the fact that having random numbers generated from DNS also was a bad thing.
    They called it Bankonit and never figured out what it could really do.

    The world premier is in the capital of New Zealand, not the capital of the UK.

    Seeing as I live in Wellington, I can say for sure that the London Premier is the first time it will be shown in europe.

    You can get hydrogen fuel cell cars which do 200 km per kg of fuel.

    Only cost $7 to fill a 2.5 kg tank overnight.

    yes, 0.9.x mozilla and 6.x netscape have sidebars where you can add tabs for specific search engines.

    You can choose to have the search listing in the tab or the page also.

    You also get to choose your default search engine.

    If you have OS X, get Fire. It does ICQ, AOL, MSN, Yahoo, IRC & Jabber all in one app.

    Pre caching can be done in JavaScript by website designers.

    Mp3 playback can be handled by quicktime in mozilla.

    Mozilla 0.9.5 does not run on OS X Dual processors.
    They won't fix this bug for a while, so just use Mozilla 0.9.5 through classic mac os.

    I've been doing this for 5 years.

    Make a ram disk, then put on a minimal install of your OS on the Ram Disk with aliases to things that don't fit but you want to run.

    Restart, using the Ram Disk.
    You should get 5 to 10 times speed increase just from the nanosecond access times vs millisecond access times on hard drives.

    umm, this has been a mac feature since OS 1

    The only reason microsloth hasn't done it is because you need to have a data fork and resource fork.

    However, mime types would be acceptable if they also had creator tags.
    Currently, they just have file types which can only be handled by 1 app at a time.

    Mac does mime class types through the internet config control panel.
    you can also configure these through the file handlers part of your browser prefs.

    get filemunger, then change the name of file munger to (file type) + .
    eg. PLAY TVOD for mp3's to play in quicktime.

    Just drop the files on filemunger and it will change them to that type.

    On OS X, PDF is built into the graphics system. It doesn't care what app you use for PDF.
