  1. Re:Here's a better idea. on Social Media a Threat To Undercover Cops · · Score: 1

Did you reply to the correct thread? Since your reply makes no sense when applied to my thread response.

The logic I put forth does not support giving the police more power. I simply state that having undercover officers has some good to it. Any power can be abused and thus needs checks and balances. If there was a better way then I would support it... And don't think I believe in the whole: if you don't do anything wrong then you have nothing to hide crap either. I believe in privacy of public citizens.

Name calling tells me your young and you will learn in time what it takes to keep a civilized world together.

So your saying that when police use undercover agents to bust kiddie porn rings, dangerous drug production labs, terrorist type groups and other similar things that are bad for society that you would rather they didn't bust them using a method that allows them to potentially find a larger number of members than those they would have caught by doing a single raid on a facility?

And to the point about police safety, I think anything that keeps anyone safe is a good thing. There is no need to point out there are more dangerous jobs. Its like saying that the taxi driver doesn't need a seat belt because the construction worker has a more dangerous job.

I think it may be up to web developers (me, you, and the other guy) to use the newest standards that are supported by the other browsers (Opera, Firefox, Safari) and to stop supporting IE to any extent other than basic page layouts. I know its often dictated by business to support IE, and you still would be, but not to the extent that it has been. Telling people that a site will be better in a alternate browser may be a good choice in this as well.

What you are looking for are called Scenerio games (paintball). They run 12 - 48 hours and there can be upwards of 2000 players in the biggest and best games. They go non stop day and night, your choice if you want to sleep or not... look them up, there are lots of them around during the year depending on your location.

http://www.glop.org/starforce/ I just picked up X3: Reunion without knowing that it included this Starforce software. I would not have purchased it had I known this. I will be writing both Egosoft and the publisher about this. Here is a reply by Egosoft on their own forums to concerns about Starforce:
Starforce is picked by the publisher, not Egosoft. You should be writing this to either Deepsilver or Enlight, depending where you are. So no, you've not proved that Egosoft used Starforce. The publisher did. Likening Starforce to the whole Sony/root-kit thing is a little silly, as Starforce is clearly named as the CP in the game's manual. You're told it's gonna install. Almost all discussions on CP turn into discussions of piracy, and as a result this thread is being pre-emptively locked. If you have a problem with the CP, feel free to register your game and post the issue in the sticky in the Tech Support forum.

I can't see that happening, giving up on IE would show people that its not viable for anything anymore and they would lose people who wouldn't come back for the "new" IE browser.

If they did buy Opera, I would stop using it in a second and go with Firefox. I would be very sad to lose such an amazing browser. Thankfully, I don't see this as a problem.

When you're searching for fingerprints (a computationally-intensive task) you don't put every image up on the screen - you don't even store imagery, you store an encoding of the fingerprint and compare encodings (numbers). In reality it's done by humans, not computers.

They do store the images of the finger prints... they use a program to manually plot the points using a computer, then another person does the exact same finger print without knowing the points the first person picked. They do this because not everyone always picks the same points or may miss one or two. Its a very time consuming process and takes hours to do a few prints, compared to the seconds it takes on TV. How do I know this? Its done here in the building I work in :)

If they feel they have been wronged by what was posted on the website, maybe they should show how it is wrong. By sueing, its saying to me that they have something to hide. I hope there will be a way to give and support the fight against Activa. Companies that sue like this, are not companies that we need.

I would think that the new e-paper technologies would be better suited as they maintain the image with the power off. This would enable the keyboard to only use power while the keys are changed (or if they are animated), and of course the wireless portion would use power.

If they get these out on the market (using e-paper tech) for under $300 CAN I would buy one asap.
