Soldier: Hey these grits taste like sand! Cook: Don't yell at me, we aint got those fancy smancy RFID tags in all our stuff so we can tell our shirts from our underwear!
with things like "uber" and "guru" in them. Also bring out that competitive edge... Rank every last one who takes the test. If there is a ladder/ranking competition people will come out of the woodwork and do this for the recognition... at least that guy who did the Reiser filesystem will at least... after all it is all about name recognition aint it?
...the barrel... I am sure this "Netscrape" service will be.
Where is the customer base for this service going to come from? Existing AOL clients, or the people who won't pay $20+ a month for internet?
They might do okay if they picked up some local access numbers for some heavily populated, but yet still rural areas. I remember when Netscape was the bigger better brother to Mosaic...
But hey, they own the name... they can use it. Wonder if their default supported browser will still be IE??
I still got an old Boca SB 16 clone card with IDE passthru for CD... it is an ISA card... oh did I mention it also has a rocking 14.4 modem as part of the combo card and is about as long as the whole freaking case!

I thought the purpose of Software Engineering courses was to teach entire classes of programmers that failure is always possible!!! Our class was a programming version of the "Kobiashi Maru"

I have a degree in Computer Science. I got lots of theory, and what I believed to be a fairly descent education. However, after reading thru the course material for this "Introductory Level" material, I quickly realized that I didn't get quite the education that I had expected. Software design is a single senior level class for CS. Lots of "waterfalls and whirlpools", but little practical knowledge. Yes, theory is great... but I much enjoyed reading thru this material. Just to remind myself that I must never stop learning.
In the 16th and 17th centuries, everything had to be transported by ship. It was also before commercial fertilizer's invention, so large shipments of manure were common. It was shipped dry, because in dry form it weighed a lot less than when wet, but once water (at sea) hit it, not only became heavier, but the process of fermentation began again, of which a by-product is methane gas. As the stuff was stored below decks in bundles you can see what could (and did) happen. Methane began to build up below decks and the first time someone came below at night with a lantern, BOOOOM! Several ships were destroyed in this manner before it was determined just what was happening.
After that, the bundles of manure were always stamped with the term "Ship High In Transit" on them which meant for the sailors to stow it high enough off the lower decks so that any water that came into the hold would not touch this volatile cargo and start the production of methane.
Thus evolved the term "S.H.I.T," which has come down through the centuries and is in use to this very day.
You probably did not know the true history of this word.
Neither did I. I always thought it was a golf term.
But that may be because I refuse to get rid of my rocking Voodoo3 3500!!! I install new game, it crashes... I swear a bit, then go back to coding. These new games are really improving my coding skills.
And I would figure this will lead to "state sponsored" spam... more of the " we are a non-profit organization" that always wants to not profit with my money!!!

'Michael Dell is the greatest spare parts distributor out there. He'll get you a piston ring or a carburetor or a crank shaft at a really low cost.'
Have any of yall ever purchased "spare" parts from Dell...
How about their special memory only they seem to have, or a spare matching CPU ???
I haven't seen these "low cost" anywhere?? Have you?
... or can I just "boot the evidence away!"

This is just what they need!!!
And I will be glad to sell it to them real cheap... alot cheaper
than a single song on E-bay... that's for damn sure!!!
Since I got my BS in Computer Science, I have been eyeing a job at the Waffle House... I have always loved to cook!

What keeps a normal Lindows user from editing their /etc/apt/sources.list and apt-get installing away?
Is there some kind of design limitation in Lindows, obscure config file layout to keep these people clickin and paying?
... until then I aint all that interested. Be nice to have some cheap dumb terminals of fairly consistent quality.
