When you are the source of an accident due to your slowing down a lane of highway traffic, the state trooper on the scene is not going to be amused by your reasoning. That goes double if the highway happens to have a min. speed limit posted
You are in the minority. Sorry. There's a difference between "caring" and having an emotional outburst (not to put down your feelings, thats the only way i know to say it) and most people don't do the latter, when confronting with the death(s) of unknowns
Your comment about users is dead on, but when thinking about security vs. compatibility (at least in the context of that comment) I think of the following:
My friend was slamming SP2 from the start because it "broke" alot of apps where he works (a medical powerhouse in the state)
My response was something along the lines of, wait, let me get this straight, you're complainig because an application you rely on is designed around security risks in the operating system, and those holes were fixed?
It's been my observation that in the middle of a city one isnt likely to find diesel at a gas station. In the foothills where I live however, where diesel trucks are somewhat more common (and by that i mean large pickups for hauling, construction work, etc) nearly every other one has a diesel pump
Not really. I couldnt give less of a shit if you click my link or not. I have over thirty referrals from slashdot, and hardly a one of them bothered to complete an offer. I have my 5 referrals, done by my friends and family, and frankly dont need you.
So, no, I don't have any reason to lie whatsoever.
So what you're saying is, if two people for some reason fall under the scrutiny of Gratis and are denied their ipods (who knows the real reason why, that's not the point) while hundreds of others have in fact recieved their product, it's still a scam? Right. For all you know your "mysteriously denied" friend could have broken the rules or whatever.
Also, I signed up for freeipods with my gmail address. The only spam I get is dictionary-type attacks, and i hardly think those would be necessary if my addy had supposedly been sold by Gratis. If you sign up for an offer and THAT company sells your info, that's your own lookout. Gratis does not, as best I can tell.
Your comment has nothing to do with making it work in a game. It is impossible for each character to influence the plot of the game, because you need a nearly infinite number of quests, because once a given one is completed, it wont be available to the next player and a new one will have to appear somewhere in order for the next player in line to have a fair chance at completing something "important" ---its simply not do-able. Yet.
Mine did. Guess what, it is NOT the be all end all of calc, esp with its default set of softwares. Anyone who goes into a test blind expecting their -89 to pass it for them is in for a rude awakening. Double that if the prof specifically crafts the test to make it so you can't rely on hardware.
In LIneage II people would do that all the time. Some char would go into the newbie zones and visibly appear to be wearing low level quipment or be naked..someone would take a shot at him and instantly he or she would equip their real armor and weapons and appear to be what they were, about level 40-ish...and proceed to whack the bastard preying on newbies.
3. Griefers are scum who have nothing better to do than pick a mark and harass and/or repeatedly PK said character at random until he or she logs off in frustration, at which point another mark is chosen.
4. Not sure on this one my self
5. Theres a diff between idling and lagging...99% of the "lag" in an MMO is caused by the server choking on something, not by connection lag...it's not latency intensive at all really. Idling is a hassle just cause it makes the server more crowded and keeps players from bein able to log on. Not so much an issue lately as most games auto kick you after a certain time idle
8. Yeah, clans, guilds, etc. I say tough cookies to that, guilds are an inseparable part of MMO games now; get used to it. there is an/ignore command for a reason, use it.
I'm not so sure. I've been on that site for months and only started getting spam to this address recently. I have the feeling Quizzilla (or a similar site) or military.com are the culprit
I'm getting about 5 a day now. I have a sinking feeling I accidentally put my real email instead of a throw away one into some online something or other.
On the other hand, Gmail marks every last one of them correctly.
BT seems to vary alot with location and your hardware setup. I pulled the beta off at about 250K/sec. Granted for a multi gig beta that took a day or so, but it was almost certainly faster than I could have gotten it from a single server
You apparently disagree, but I (and the rest of my gamer group) tend to prefer FPSs with "ordinary" (that is, real or realistic) weapons.
That said, we played farcry a few times. Not only did it run like a dog on several systems, the multiplayer was a joke (levels too large and spread out for an 6 or 8 man game? give me a break.)
I'm sure you realize this but no business can legally require you to provide your SSN (as far as i know) --I'm sure if you'd worked your way up the foodchain you'd have run into a manager or someone who wasn't reading from a script who knew that.
OTOH, as you said, peace and quiet. And extra money.
I'd think learning a language from someone who doesnt speak your native tongue would be exceedingly frustrating. How do you learn things like grammar and tenses without being able to communicate well in some language?
If he asked the photog to stop, and the third party continued to take pictures, that may possibly be considered harassment and as such your friend would have a case in getting the other guy to buzz off

Ipods dont run on AA batteries though.

Yeah except a completely different country actually asked that they be shut down. The US was helping as a matter of cooperation.
It's not going to be THAT great when nearly everything of interest has been firewalled and made illegal to view.
Well back then all you had was MIDI so 5 megs went alot further...
Perhaps instead of just not buying CDs you should find bands that aren't DRM encumbered.

Just because you are looking for a certain brand doesn't mean that brand is the best at/for what you have in mind.
It wouldn't be unheard of for that third party company to be selling something less shoddy than the official product
They're more likely going to say
"I can't believe those greedy bastards thought they had a right to watch media for free and not get in trouble"
Hers change though, google for it and you'll find some comparisons
