Sometime back, I tried searching thru the Google news site, for the Oregon Open Source bill. Curiously, I got a wrong reference to a March 6 Slashdot article. Right now, Google lists 'zero' matches for an "Oregon Microsoft Slashdot" search.
Something crazy going on between Google and Slashdot? Why this hide-and-seek??
Nah, Microsoft, Open Source, and Slashdot are listed as 'noise words' in Google's dictionary.
Please note, in order for Outlook 20X6 to operate properly, you must first place this workstation on your DMZ for no less than 15 minutes, in order for it to receive IMAP7NukeViagraHGH.D@MM
This will allow you to have a high speed, reliable, DRM'd Microsoft Email eXPerience! (tm)
"Sure, it's moderately faster than b, but not as long range"
That's easy to say in theory. In _practice_ I find the Linksys 802.11g card get s auseable signal a good 30% further than my Orinoco gold card. (I'm assuming due to improvements in firmware)
If renaming the file changes the optimizations, why doesn't anyone (read: not me) take a gander at the detonator drivers and figure out what OTHER games it's tuned to?
Lets add $15 worth of hardware, $3 worth of software and charge an additional $600 for our laptops. THAT'LL boost sales!
Seriously, you wouldn't buy a slow laptop for $1800 because is came with a funky mouse, drivers for that mouse, and a few utilities that used the extra buttons on that mouse, would you?
Displacement on demand is NOT just a selective removal of injector and spark events. There also an oil bypass system that reduces the oil pressue on the lifters for the cylinders not being fired.
Corvettes have a Limp home mode similar to the Cadillac system mentioned elsewhere. When it happens, it make the car a PIG. Like it can't maintain 50 mph on the highway PIG.
The older V8-6-4 system mentioned elsewhere actually decoupled the valvetrain and the crank when it went in 'less cylinders' mode. It was a nightmare.
The new system will only use harmonic multiples of the total number of cylinders: V8 will get a V4 but NOT a V6 mode. There was too much vibration trying to run something with 8 cylinders and only 6 firing.
A good ergonomic analysis of your workspace. I've had work related wrist injuries twice, each time when I started a new job. Repositioning my chair relative to the keyboard relative to the monitor fixed both issues.
You've got a paypal dontation button to help compensate you for your non-trivial expenditure of time...how well is that working? Is it an adequate revenue stream, or just enough for a pizza or two?
Oh, I'm pumped about Doom3....on the Xbox. Buying a console removed the ONE reason I used to upgrade boxes. So there was a new savings in buying an Xbox and a number of games...here's hoping Doom3 uses the NV30 chipset to it's fullest.
It works EXTREMELY well in the current Corvette. I rarely look at the dash anymore. It DOES make it hard to truthfully answer the Sheriff that you didn't know how fast you were going.
I've got a Nic (used to be called ThinkNIC) that I turned into a DMZ webserver, running NetBSD. By pulling the CDROM and the modem daughtercard, a full size Harddisk fits perfectly. Tell it to use ports 80 and 22, and you've got a one wire in (power) and one wire out (ethernet).
I needed a new router/firewall/AP, I bought the linksys g product, a couple of G cards, spent an afternoon looking for Broadcom support in linux and pitched Redhat for WXp as a result.
That laptop is mostly used for surfing the web and rdesktopping into other computers, I'd most likely put RH8 (9) BACK on it if Broadcom's g set was supported.
I can't be the only person that WANTS this. (and I DID lobby Broadcom and Linksys for driver support)
Is to do what I'm doing now. I'll wait til the dust settles on DVD+-R, and when everybody keeps shuffling around with the Blue DVD standards, I'll upgrade from CDRs to whatever's left in the DVD+-R format with a $68 drive and media that costs $.25 a piece.
(Have you priced burnproof CDRW's lately? I rember paying $350 for my first 4x drive and thought what a great deal it was...compared to that $800 drive a roommate had in college, which IIRC was _incompatible_ with CDR's.)
Alas, that means it'll ALWAYS take 12 pieces of media to back up my data.

It also keeps your knives sharp, and your fruit from rotting!
(subtle reference to early 80's pyramid mysticism crap...)
SOMEBODY'S been watching a little too much Matrix lately.
Was that Steve Would address the attendees like a mad Principal addressing a class called in for detention:
Steve: "We WERE going to sell 10.3 for $129, but since one of you had to go and ruin it for the rest of you, it'll be $200."
Attendees: Awwww!
One guy punches another guy in the arm in the back row.
I think I see a market opportunity for BeOS!

The broadcom chipset in the Linksys 802.11g card does...but there's no support for it in Linux. :(
Like, how long do we have to wait for the Silicon to deplete?

Well, it was hard, but I realized the line 'in' was bigger around. (to make up for losses due to heat, I'd presume.) ;)

Honda Accords can be stripped. Try fencing Segway parts.
