FF13 is supposed to have a PS3 / 360 release. I really wish they would consider a PC port, especially since the 360 is so close to PC hardware. The problem is it doesn't seem there's a huge market for JRPGs in the PC world. Square just recently released The Last Remnant for the PC, which includes huge improvements over the console version, but really, the last big JRPG released before that was what, FFVIII? I'm still waiting for my summons to finish. (which bring an important point, TLR PC has a turbo mode for battles, with it off, the battles are literally in slow motion, I feel sorry for the 360 owners)

Last FF game I played was FFVIII, the last one released on the PC. Loved 7, never finished 8 because of the long summons and other games I was playing at the time.

I just bought the Last Remnant on Steam and am liking it so far, although it annoys the shit out of me that you can exploit the BR system to get stupid high stats. I'll probably play it again once I've finished it without doing all the side quests to keep my BR down and then do some power leveling getting 9999HP unions. I wish Square would put out more shit for the PC and not just bullshit MMOs.

I played UT2k4 all the time. Mostly on assault mode. There was a great, but small community out there for this mode when UT3 came out. So I bought UT3, played for a bit and decided I hated the changes they made. The dropped both assault, and onslaught modes. Now there's a new warfare mode that's rather confusing, it's like onslaught, but allows one good/lucky player to basically remove any form of team work. Maybe I should give it another try, but with TF2 and L4D, I haven't had the desire to.

L4D server searches don't seem country limited to me at all. I play with 3 other friends all in the US and we get connected to German servers all the time, or some other server with a 150 ms ping. A manual server selection feature for the lobby leader would be a big step in the right direction.

Another big desire for us is some way to merge lobbies for versus mode, so I can create a lobby of 4 people, and then connect us to another lobby of 4 people so we can play some decent players, not just the 4 random yahoos that clicked auto join.

The 1 GB limitation is probably due to the way they have the kernel compiled. The Linux kernel has a 1 GB limitation unless you have High Memory enabled. Way too much information that I don't understand can be found here: http://kerneltrap.org/node/2450

As for the yahoo toolbar junk, I can't defend Dell on that one...

Thanks for the UNR link, I didn't know about that. I actually ordered a mini 9 with Linux a week ago when Dell was having a sale on em. ($284 w/ 1mp webcam, 1gb ram, 8 gb ssd) Can't wait for it to get here.

  17. What about the promised assault mode? on Unreal Tournament 3 "Titan Pack" Expansion Coming In March · · Score: 2, Interesting

I bought UT3 and was disappointed with the changes they made it. The new onslaught replacement is rather confusing, and allows one good person to totally unbalance the teams with the stupid ball thing to take over a node on Warpath.

They dropped assault mode which is what I played exclusively with UT2k4. It was supposed to be possible with Warpath mode, but I've not seen any assault style maps yet--although I've yet to play in awhile. Or much at all really.

And they remove m-m-m-m-monster kill. That's an unreal staple man. They also removed the cussing, presumably to make it xboxable.

Actually another thing that always bothered me is that Zune uses it's own media player/library program. Hello? Windows Media Player? I've always dreamed about such a device, basically a little captcha for the phone. I work from home and get tons of robo calls, and even if it's not a robot talking on the phone, marketing firms usually have some machine dialing the call and then hand it off to someone once the machine determines there's a human on the line. Ever wonder why you say hello and it takes the person on the other end a few seconds to respond? That's why. Phone captcha would eliminate these calls... at least for awhile until someone beats the captcha.

Actually Spore's DRM is surprisingly non-intrustive. No DVD is required to be in the drive, and doesn't even require you to be online all the time. I think after so many days it does require you to be online. But seriously, if the computer I'm using isn't able to load /. then it's not really functional for me. :)

Supposedly you only get 3 installs, but that's 3 installs on different computers. If you install twice on the same computer, that only counts as one. I read at least one article where someone tried to use up all their installs, called EA, and they gladly gave out a new CD Key.

Just make sure you buy the DVD version, since EADM blows.
