I did the math 2 years ago when the insight came out. At $10,000 more than a Kia (loaded) and assuming gas was 75 cents a liter, it would take me 5 years to make up the difference in base cost with gas savings. Yes, it's better for the enviroment, but what I think is required is a tax break to cover the pruchase difference and allow the technology to be accessed by people who do not have a finances to take advantage of the hybrids. Say a tax break per year until your loan is done.

Yes, It's a Commodore 1702. Many Apple & Atari users bought this model as a monitor in the 8-bit era. Best video for the time and not expensive either. I still use mine with a Norcent DVD player and the kids N64. You can use the Lum/Chrom ports in the back to connect to S-video out on the DVD. It's 20 years old and still displays rock solid with sharp video.

I see large areas of the urban area without DSL because they won't upgrade the switches. I guess it's not a big money maker like long distance. I find it interesting this topic came up as I had just finished talking to the cable company regarding cable internet, "not for the next 6 months at the mininium". It only took three years to get cable to go by my place.
