Not all libraries censor information. Some, like in my town of Santa Cruz, CA, have linux kiosk stations out in the open. This has the effect of preventing surfers from viewing porn because people can see the screens easily. Sometimes it happens though, and they have to ask them to stop. That's all.
Just a little while ago they put in some Linksys WRT54G access points and people come in with laptops. The WRT54G has custom firmware http://www.portless.net/menu/ewrt/ that gives a spash page with the TOS.

Hmm I think you have it wrong there. You see, with Apple's Xcode development platform, all you need to do to compile of PPC and Intel is click both checkboxes. If your application ran in PPC at first, then the developer's guide will help you port to Intel. If you are developing an app right from the start, here is your chance to follow the porting guide and apple programmer guidelines and get your code right the first time. If you had been following apple's guidelines from the beginning then porting to intel is easy.
You don't want to alienate your customers... You want your app to run on both for a long while until PPC becomes obsolete. That's like, 8 years from now considering the higher resale value of macs

The point is, you really don't need an SUV. Why not a more fuel efficient vehicle, like a sedan or something. I take great offense at the SUV mentality. "I can afford it, it's big, I like being above people on the road, it makes me feel powerful, I don't give a shit about the environment." 12.4 Mpg! sheesh. And the mpg isn't even listed on Ford's website...

I have a 2003 prius, and if you drive it coast/burn style you generally get better milage. When going up large hills it is good to burn before the hill and then slow down gradually as you go up. Going down a hill, I just let off the gas and the engine shuts off and the batteries charge.
The threat of a catastophe that is purely natural is also real, even if the probability is low. Asteroid 2004 MN4 seems likely to come very close, if not actually hit, Earth in 2035 and 2036, depending on how it's course is affected by it's close pass in 2029. Though it's not a dinosaur killer, it's big enough to do serious damage. Many of the readers of slashdot will be alive when that happens. There is also a tiny, but real chance that a super-caldera, such as the one in yellowstone might erupt, which would be devistating for the entire planet. It's risky to have all our eggs in one basket.
AHHH THE SKY IS FALLING! THE SKY IS FALLING!
You've been watching too much Discovery Channel. sheesh.
This is alot different than a DDOS attack, where attacks are distributed among many hosts. This is basically a single host on your network exhibiting specific behavior like 30+ pings in one second or 30+ connections to port 445 on random or incrementing ip addresses. Pretty easy to detect and there are few false positives for network crippling worms such as these. Also easy to detect that viruses are coming via port 25 because they will match a specific signature...
With citrix you can run it over a modem so the bandwidth is totally minimal and efficient. With linux technologies I am not sure. Now you do get problems with too many people on a server, taxing its resources and can make other things slow.
What would be cool is if you had a first person shooter. The top 5 people with the most kills would win the pot?

Heh no, they are typing on Apple IIs. :)

I know I can just download it, but where is the autoupdate? I'm two versions behind now...
I think this is a scheme to get more work out of us. Generally people don't like to be at work when the sun goes down.
A better switch would be to the metric system.

Should I be charged twice the parking fee because my 2001 Excursion has twice as many cylinders as the car beside it?
yes because your fat ass SUV needs some serious downsizing.
okay, cut off their head then... that should last at least a little while.
oh no, not another one of those GMAA posts!
And ZTerm was the best Mac Terminal program... back when system 6 was the rage! Believe me I tried them all.
STOP GLOBAL ENTROPY NOW!!!
hmm, not entirely correct. On the Apple II it was called appleworks. Apple spun off Claris in 1987. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Claris
Way too much history about appleworks: http://apple2history.org/history/ah19.html
