I agree bigtime that the industry is just aweful at selling games only around christmas time.
I find it hard to believe that kids can play 10 games in 2 weeks of christmas vacation versus just 1 game all summer long.
The real reason companies do this shit is to protect their prices. They don't want to release in March at $49, and have it be $29 at the end of the year.
I am curious to see who really has the bigger market share between ATI and Nvidia. They have way more influence on game libraries and graphics call than both processor company IMHO.
This probably sounds abit awkward. I work in the IT field, and I am praying working conditions continue to get worse.
Not because I want my job to be more difficult, but because I feel there are alot of people who are just hogging up good IT positions because it pays the bill. They have no motivation, no desire. They do their job half assed, but they are still there because the have mastered the art of beating the system. This include blue and white collar employees, who need to be replaced by true IT folks many of which are unemployed.
Alright I have had about 3 AMD processors die on me. I have owned about 4 Intel processors all the way back from original Pentium. Not one has ever had a problem.
Now... given this kind of statistics, as sad as it may sound I'd say I am willing to pay anything for an Intel just to avoid the headaches.
Am I the only one who thinks the problem with today's game music is NOT with the quality?
Sure, DTS, dolby digital 5.1 is great enhancement, but the problem is with the source. Why do we license mainstream garbage into games. Gone are the days when every game had their own music. Do good composers not exist anymore?
Listen to classic castlevania, blaster master, phantasy star... those music fit the theme so much more. Imagine castlevania had licensed MC Hammer? Years from now, playing this game the music will sound extremely outdated.
If SCO wins this one, I can't think of a better profession in this world.
What other job can you make claims like this at this hell hole of an economy and be profitable... while getting global attention from slashdot etc. Only lawyers can do this.
I'll probably get modded down for this.... the richer the lawyer, the bigger the scum bag.
It doesn't matter if they like or dislike GTA and games of the present generation. Seriously there is no way in hell any one game can please EVERYONE. So stop trying.
I don't ever remember pacman and robotron giving me 8hrs of nonstop fun. At least GTA has. Stop labeling today's games like they are garbage. I can program a game like pacman using 1 joystick and no buttons. Those aren't even games, they are like light show demos.
There are plenty of evidence suggesting man and dinosaur living side to side with one another at one time. Fossils of human and dinosaur foot steps found next to each other are alot more common than giant asteroids found in the Indian ocean.
Just like geology shows the egypt spinx head and body show different types of weather pattern damages.
There is too much contradictions to buy into one theory.
Can't we all just get along? I paid good money for ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB, and anticipated both games to be ATI driven. Now I feel screwed to a degree. Sigh...
I have to admit if they keep dropping the price like that, it's pretty tempting to get a system. But the system you ONLY buy once.
I'd rather see all gamecube games come out at $29.99 because they are on the lower end of the market. Is it me, or does it seem like PS2 games are always the cheapest?
I am sorry but isn't this more or less the same as CPU partitioning like the Xeon hyperthreading.
Sun needs to lower the prices of sparc systems so that a 400mhz sparc doesn't cost $1000 in the year 2004. If it wasn't for Ebay sun would have disappeared in more places than just datacenters.

By the time the box puts a 5 lb hard drive in, they'd upgrade to the beige metal box high end model.
I can see these companies send their stock price up a few notch for a few days.
If their managment were smart they'd take this opportunity to really start advertising and whipping their operation into dell mode.
Forget Intel and AMD.
I am curious to see who really has the bigger market share between ATI and Nvidia. They have way more influence on game libraries and graphics call than both processor company IMHO.
Looks like SCO's ammunition is $$$. In this case going up against Bank of America, they might need some more pocket change.
This commercial IT market is becoming too patch-dependent.
Can anyone make products out-of-the-box any more? Viruses need daily patch updates. The OS need daily patch updates. This is ridiculous.
Until I see it in the market, I won't believe the rumors. The phantom has been in magazine publications since mid 90s. Hype Hype Hype.
Yep, we knew SCO wasn't that smart to begin with.
I am really tired of people trying to bring down Kazaa P2P since it allows people to download free music.
I have NEVER heard people trying to bring down any P2P due to distributing too much porn.
Why don't people come out of the closet to protect the porn industry.

There ought to be a market to sell portable 1 U boxes that perform as well as any big desktop fitting regular sized PCI cards.
That's what this Acer box sounds like.

I can't imagine going to work with a handheld PS2. It's one thing to have 16bit quality mario games on gameboy advanced.
It's another to have a game of PS2 quality at work.
Am I the only one who thinks the problem with today's game music is NOT with the quality?

I know I paid too much for RAM in 2001-2002. But what can we do now?
Even if the case went the way of the consumers two years later, the damage has already been done.
I have relatives today who are in going to junior high. These kids are spoiled by far compared to kids 10-15 years ago.
They get an A for literally showing up. I am sorry but we used to have to hike uphill 3 miles carrying 100lb bag of junks for warmups.
When the hell did playing Final Fantasy 10 add more weight than Final Fantasy 2.

Check it out my dog did a really good job.
I don't know what to believe in anymore.

It's interesting to hear other cultures do coin flips whereas their coins have different sides.
Some have hand and flag.
Some have queen and king.
Some have religous symbols and the pope.
Some have head and saddam.
So half life = ATI
And Doom III = Nvidia
