I used to help write anti cheat software, and the thing is the cheats have their own forums as well.
if you want to "interview a cheater" it is very easy to find them.
To successfully find out what cheats were out there I had to get on those boards and become a member and all that stuff. Trust me, "skill" can easily be downloaded for almost any game out there.
The cheaters get all angry and stop playing if they cant cheat, cause the game "aint fun" because they losing or they expect someone else is cheating against them when they lose.
We are teaching our kids that the only way to have fun is to win, and if you are second place it just means your the first loser and all of that.
Kids arent learning that the POINT of the game is to show how good you are at it versus someone else, when you are cheating you arent really playing the same game and your rules are better in your favor. Its completely pointless.
Google is now harnessing a distributed operating system, you and me. They use games to get us to essentially program for them and reduce error by having multiple people do the same task and use what answers come out.
Very clever. Of course this was done by Amazon as well I think and I dont know what has come of that effort.
But it really means that they are using the processing power of people to avoid having to create artificial intelligence. And why not? Just use real intelligence from people and let them enjoy it by thinking it is a game!
If you do contracting with the government, and have to follow some of the subsections of Sarbains Oxley, if you have data that comes in on physical media in a digital format, you have to be able to audit for that data and keep the data in storage, sometimes for years.
This is the government/legal system at work. If you were to lose the CD's and an audit was done and you did not have them, you can face massive legal fines.

This guy is un-American. We need to torture people to find out information important to the war on terror. This guy should have taken the following poster
we wouldnt want these children to be harmed by terrorists just because we didnt have the fortitude to torture them.
These terrorists were caught on the battlefield, even as close as the United States, and they should be tortured until they break and tell us all they know!
You need to chill out, if our government doesnt hire honest people then the government would fall apart. I mean, it would be terrible to have dishonest people with so much information! Right now this proves that we have a lot of honest people and one or two bad apples which are caught in a timely manner, the government can run clean. The reason we allow the government to have all of our information and view it so easily is to stop terrorists and those that act like terrorist but are classed as criminals in our judicial system.
If we dont get all this information together we wont be safe, and without being safe our entire country would fall apart. So we have to have complete and unfettered trust in our government that it is doing the right thing as they know everything about us!
Remember to smile for the security camera, there is an angel on the other side.
Keeping us safe from harm. We should not look at this as a breech that affects Americans, it did not say anything about him accessing things like the NSA database on Americans etc... It just affected the Witness Protection program right? That doesnt matter, because he was a good guy and only doing it to do good work on the system easier.
And he was caught too, so crisis averted, everyone told us they caught him and there have never been similar attacks before!
I feel completely safe with my information knowing that they are out there keeping an eye even on those doing such things altruistically.
This could backfire, this could make telcos the great wall of america. Otherwise its a really cool idea, that way if someone wanted to sue because their little girl got raped by a myspace bandit, they would be responsible because they were monitoring it anyway;_)
Because you might be a terrorist. BTW, when we were looking at your expenses and we noticed an Anal butt plug on them. Now we know your girlfriend was just using your credit card, but unless you pay a fee I am sure we can convince your homophobic employer of... well you understand. Just leave your check for 3000 dollars on the night stand as you leave next morning, and make it out to cash, it will get to the right place.

Agreed, if this was some kind of software to try to make firefox a social networking browser then it would be cool, but as it is its just someone trying to leverage some of the firefox market.
No, what they are doing is providing lock in for their protocols and standards, which they CAN sell, can integrate into their proprietary tools, do lock in on fonts, lock in technologies and the ability to even render them properly (active x is a failed example).
Because of the ability to dictate how the web works fundementally, they have a lot of control over the web itself. If they dont like a specific thing that is being done by a competitor, they could lock out that feature for a future version.
It also enhances their brand name, because people write bad code that works on 90% of the browsers (IE) and not on 10% of them, which gives them a false reputation of quality.
The most disgusting thing about all this is that microsoft really has abused its monopoly in all this. Even if firefox is the best browser ever, developed by volunteers and distributed freely, it is only going to get and keep 10% of the market because IE7 comes with the OS, its easy to use, and it is adequate for most people.
Why should some consumer go out and download something that they will actually LIKE using as it meets their needs, vs just being useful and meeting their needs. OF course the statement alone describes why techies do it, but it hasnt sunk in with the wider populace.
I dont read Democratic Blogs but I get bombarded with the Republican hate blog entries while visiting forums, so Maybe you have more knowledge than I do on that subjects.
I hate Republican hate blogs that are out there and focus on half of one side of a story to make it look as bad as possible for anyone other than themselves.
The worst part, is that they link to themselves over and over and over and over and over and over worse than a hick family tree were all the grandmas grandpas, children and grand children descended fromt he same 2 people.
Take a recent look on google for "iran dress code" and you will see hundreds of Republican blogs on the subject, all citing other republican blogs as the definitive and truthful source, when in the end the story was put up as a sensational tabloid article with no truth behind it at all.
Bloggers are not the new news media, they are just a bunch of people who have found out a place were people will read their opinions, nod their heads, and help them mentally wack themselves off at how awsome they are and how many people they can get to agree.
Plagarism isnt even the half of it, these people cite sources that cite sources to the point were it would be difficult to find out were the original story came from, its like a horrible game of telephone gone awry, or the before mentioned incestuous family forgetting whose kid little jenny is.
Just because the laws are not updated to protect us, doesnt mean it isnt wrong and isnt against the 4th Ammendmant, someone just needs to get out there and make sure the 4th Ammednmant is doing its job in a world were technology has let the government get around its original intent. Because we can see as Americans the original intent of the 4th Ammendmant was to stop what essentially are unreasonable searches, or fishing for criminal activities among people who are not suspect of a crime. Which is what is being done in this case.
Is this treason though to release something you know is a "state secret" and not only that release it in whole, with full knowledge that it is intended for a war against terrorism kinda thing (I agree with Wired but I am trying to see possible avenues of punishment for them).
ARe they going to be protected because they are the press. What other precedents are their for this kind of thing, were a newspaper willfully defied what it knows are documents that are secret, and claimed to be needed to stay secret in context of a war?

MS Zone was actually earlier. Same with several other services, such as DWANGO and the TEN network.
Actually you have to weight the economics of the gun, and its repair into the mix as well.
But, as you say, the more spammers you kill the closer to 35 cents you get in actual money per bullet.
Condaliza Rice just likened the war on terror like a civil war....
