  1. Re:What can come of this? on Square To Merge With Enix · · Score: 1

"Square should have known that they'd only attract fans of the FF series, who would immediately be disappointed that the movie had nothing to do with any of the games"

    - Why would a Final Fantasy Movie have anything to do with any of the games? NONE of the FF games have anything to do with eachother? I thought the movie was like watching an FF game.

"they are getting lazy and making FF10 Part 2."

    - FF-X2 isn't there latest game. If you take a look FFXI Online is there latest game which came out in Japan last year and they are starting on an expansion for that world as well. FF X2 is just a filler game (like "the bouncer" or "kingdom hearts") used to hold people interests until they can finish translating there current games. Keep in mind which Square soft games get popular here are last year news on the other side of the ocean.

"I'd rather see Enix on top, since their most recent games have not been as crappy as FF10 or Kingdom Hearts."

    - Thats just a matter of opinion.

    - On your comments about the PS2's and Nintendo, Xbox - etc... your missing somehting. Enix does most of there games for the Nintendo Platform which is HUGE in Japan where Squr. Sft. is HUGE in America the combined company now has 2 games series (FF + DQ/W) that don't really compete with eachother (different continents) Also this would give free reign for square to release FF games on the Gamecube and X-Box, since Sony's 18% share becomes less (Square shares translate to .81 share of Enix which is the surviving entitiy) And yes it would benifit them to release an american translation of FF Online for ALL CONSOLES.

  2. Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely? on Square To Merge With Enix · · Score: 1

With this merger you will have 1 game company that caters to at least 90% of all the RPG fans in both America (sqr. Sft.) and Japan (Enix). You also get a company that has great relations with both Sony (PS2 Sqr. Sft.) and Nintendo (GCube Enix). Not to mention this would weeken any hold/influence Sony has with the new company and might allow Enix-Square-Soft to even make games for the X-Box.

I just hope they don't get to cocky and start fucking people over. As well as I would be at a lost as to what to expect if they ever discontinued either series (FF or DQ/W) and created a new series Final Quest? Dragon Fantasy?

Then I go home to my Windows XP PC. I want to play NWN, GTA3, and WC3. Only one of these will eventually be able run on Linux natively and the others only half-ass on Wine.

Then I go to the Coffee shop with my latop. I want to sit down, have a cup of plain black coffee and write a short story, poem, thesis, maybe surf the internet or send some emails. I'm using Linux on a Thinkpad and it's great.

Of course the sound card isn't supported in Mandrake 8.2, and I had to switch from my 3com 10/100 card to an intel 10mb card for it to be able to hook up on my network at the house. IBM drive I have had for 4 years as well and had no problems. This drive is used as my dump drive and gets a lot of download/upload usage all day long.

The Maxtor drive I have had now for 2 years and have had no problems with it. This is my "C" drive where all my games are played off of.

Now about the failures.... My friend has had a Western Digital drive which has died on him twice now over the last 2 years - he loves WD anyway since there warranty replacement system is kickass. (whatever)

My Guardians son has a packbell system with a Fujitsu drive in it that recently konk out after 2 years of use. By konked out I mean everything from bad sectors to everytime you ran a full scandisk there was less and less GOOD space.

Batman doesn't have ANY super powers. He just has really cool toys - like inspector gadget but in black/blue (depending on when you read your comics).

Of course as long as either one had cryptonite they could win - but if they didn't theres just no chance.

Anyway a better fight would be between Rogue and Superman since both are strong/flexible and can fly - the true test would be if rogue could suck up all his power vs. getting her face jabbed in.
