Yay! This is a really great way to show people the benefits of free software and get them ready for transitioning to linux.

That's funny... My only dependency to Windows is a GPL liscensed app.

    VirtualDub.

There isn't a free (as in beer and speech) comparable app on any operating system.

Hell, there isn't a comparable commercial app on any operating system.

So, until there is an app as powerful as virtualdub available for linux, i'll be sticking to windows. :)

As long as you keep your older versions of the players, you should be fine.
Hell, you should even burn a cd with all the players you can think of on it just in case you feel like switching and want to aviod the fees.

  7. I enjoy the larger sizes. on The Golden Age of Cup Manufacturing · · Score: 1

Everytime I stop at the local convienence store in my area (Co-Gos for those who care.) I get a "64 oz. Tank" of either Sprite or Coke. The whole 64 oz. cup costs $1.19 USD which is only $0.10 more expensive than their 20 oz. bottle of soda at $1.09. Thats 44 oz. more for $0.10 more. And it lasts me the whole day. Well worth it, in my opinion, and I would be glad to pay $0.10 or $0.20 more for a "80 oz. Super-Tank" or whatever they choose to call it.

Most of the people who purchase huge drinks like these don't drink it in a single sitting. They either take it to work or take it home where it lasts them at least a few hours. :)

  8. Why? on Games that Support Dual-Head Setups? · · Score: 2, Interesting

A major disadvantage in a 3d shooter would be that your crosshair would overlap on either screen.
This would make it very difficult to aim at your enemies.

In a RTS, the plastic around the screen would bother me too much to even consider it.

The only good option would be using this for an RPG. YOu could have the main screen where you play the game (real-time, not turn-based, of course) and save the 2nd screen for spellcasting and inventory.

All in all, the idea of 2 screens just wouldn't work for most games. :/
