The best 'analogy' is if you drop two identical video cameras pointed perfectly at each other, one attached to a mass of 1 ton and another attached to a mass of 3 tons (to make air resistance negligent), and you have them film their fall, when you watch back the film you will see both cameras showing the same image of the camera in the same spot (only the backrounds would be different) because the cameras are identical and face parallel, mirroring each other, and fall at the same rate because size and shape and weight doesn't affect the fall.

    Not a 'cybersquatter'

The judge ruled early on that Hooters wasn't a "cybersquatter," the name for Wildlife speculators who catch sought-after birds in about 30 places a year, hoping to resell them for hundreds or thousands of dollars.

Hooters(R) applied for trademark in 1994, a company which was founded in 1991. Grand opening was in 1996.

The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) didn't sue until 1999, but the judge said that five-year wait wasn't too long because WWF was too busy suing the-now "World Wresting Entertainment" company because they overrated the impact the Internet would have on business.

"By 1999, HOOTERS(R) restaurants had transformed into an essential marketing tool, with the ability to reach millions of potential customers throughout the United States and around the world," Pregerson said.

The court said HOOTERS altered their newest promotional materials at that time to add advertisements to drive traffic and money to the World Wildlife Fund web site.

"Clearly, HOOTERS(R) was capitalizing upon the traffic that was coming to HOOTERS(R) restaurants in search of the Wildlife Fund," Pregerson said.

    Wouldn't it improve your game?

People would buy Deep Fritz would use it for training. I've heard this about playing chess:

1/3 of the competition should be stronger than you (to challenge yourself to advance and learn--why not learn from DeepFritz?)

"Upgrading is often smart, because the quality of your tools--whether shovels, snow skis, or software--can have a big impact on your effectiveness and enjoyment. Upgrades can be worthwhile. Right now Microsoft is investing heavily to suggest that people upgrade their operating systems, but the world won't end for people who don't. "

Another quote: "Microsoft is always searching for the new thing that is coming along, whether it is in a research lab or at another company. "

And: "I gave a great deal of personal thought to the Internet back then and even wrote a memo on it. But we were cautious because the Internet had drawbacks - including capacity and security limitations -compared to what was possible using alternate approaches (...) As it happened, the lightning struck early. The public got a taste of interactivity on the Internet's World Wide Web and said, "We're not waiting for a better solution! Let's go!" (What better solution were they planning? Oh, MS passport??)

"I don't use a Mac. I use a Windows-based laptop computer with docking stations at home and work. The Apple Macintosh is a fine system, though. Microsoft has invested heavily in developing software for it since before the first Mac was released back in 1984. Microsoft is doing as much Macintosh software development now as at any time in the past. "

"I used to button my top button, and it took me a while to figure out that wasn't cool. So you'd better watch out for that one. "

"At any given moment, my company typically has as many customers playing our games online (at www.zone.com) as it has people using our online service. We don't know how to make money with online games yet, but we'll figure it out someday. " (1998)

"I didn't have any teachers I disliked, or who were unfairly critical of me. Actually, I've always wanted to go back and see a few of my teachers who put a lot of energy into working with me and who encouraged me. But there's a world of good things I don't have time for. See, you guys clicked on the original link (w/ =google) first, then edited the partner line, and say it still works! There's a likely possibility that NYT ignores the partner parameter as long as it finds a valid one already in the cookie cache.

Can somebody clear their cache, history, and cookies, then go to that URL with &partner=bob added and see what happens? Because this way you would be right... but you should still test before saying something as fact.

    VERY INTERESTING:

1997 - The American magazine Psychology Today's body image survey finds that 15 per cent of women and 11 per cent of men in the U.S. said they'd be willing to give up at least five years of their life in exchange for the ability to reach their desired weight. That same year Redux or Fen-phen is taken off the market after studies link it to heart valve disease.

    EARLIER HIGH-FAT LOW-CARBS DIETS:

1900 to 1920 - Although unconfirmed, there is reason to believe that TAPEWORM diet pills were marketed in the U.S. during the first two decades of the 20th century. Women allegedly swallowed "magic" diet pills that were actually TAPEWORMS in capsules. After they had shed enough pounds, women would take deworming pills to rid themselves of the parasite. (!!!)

1961 - Herman Taller's Calories Don't Count, which recommends a diet high in fat and low in carbohydrates is a best seller in the U.S.

1967 - Physician Irwin Stillman publishes The Doctor's Quick Weight Loss Diet. He advocates a high-protein, low-carb diet, but includes a recommendation to drink 10 eight ounce glasses of water per day to combat "water loss." Twenty million people try it.

1972 - Michael Jacobson of the Center for Science in the Public Interest coins the terms "junk food" and "empty calories" in reference to candy, snacks and soda.

Snapple introduces a new bottled fruit drink that is marketed as an healthier alternative to soft drinks.

And Robert Atkins publishes Diet Revolution which advocates eating all the fat you want as part of a high protein, low-carb diet. It quickly becomes a bestseller. (In 1992, he re-issues pretty much the same exact book.)

1982- Jane Fonda's Workout video is credited with creating the phenomenon of exercise videos. After selling millions of copies the tape was discontinued by the manufacturer after many of Jane's moves were found to be unsafe (!!!!)

1995 - North America sees a resurgence of low-carb, high-protein diets. (Back to this again!)

Also interesting : Bulemia first discussed in 1926, Anorexia brought to light in 1983 when a celebrities dies on stage; in 1929, Candy TV Ads say "candy is good for you."

Here's the truth. You can post disagree or agree if you wish.

People need to take responsibility for their own actions, good or bad outcome. It's not enough to blame/praise God. Or justify why others might be like they are.

    People need to take responsibility.

Remember Darwin's theory. There will NEVER be equality. You will always have richer people and poorer people. Even if you clone the same person 6 Billion times, some will end up richer and some will end up poorer after time.

So why not let Darwin's theory do it's job? You can't stop it, anyway. If someone has a low IQ, poor upbringing, no education, then by nature that person ISN'T SUPPOSED to succeed--unless this gives them an advantage, of course. Anyway, people shouldn't worry about who they think is better off than them. I'm NOT SAYING THIS IS GOOD OR BAD, MAYBE I'D LOVE PERFECTION, but this is just fact.

Only by taking responsibility for yourself can one succeed in his or her objectives in life.

Power/money/etc will always be spread out differently. Even with the same equal IQ, looks, and upbringing (a perfect clone), one will be more successful and Darwin's theory will fade away those unsuccessful.*

Once again, I would LOVE it if there was no poverty and everything was ideal (Possibly less complaining? ;) )

BUT, it's Survival of the fittest! It's not U.S.A.'s fault, it's not the WORLD's fault.

Survival of the Fittest will always happen and nothing will ever balance out.

By not interrupting it, at least the "lower-end" standard could be higher the next generation around.

Look I'm a nice guy, but lets speak realistically.

I'm NOT SAYING I'm FOR or AGAINST, but Darwin is JUST THE WAY IT IS. YOU CAN'T CHANGE IT. YOU CAN'T STOP IT.

*And even if you had 6 BILLION CLONES and money distribution/leadership/fear WAS EQUIVALENT (impossible), then NOTHING WOULD GET DONE and society would cease to exist, thus not being perfect. There's No Perfect society possible.

So what is everyone's opinion on this?
