  1. Touch and feel internet... on Handshake via the Internet · · Score: 1

    If successful, it could allow people to touch and feel each other over the Internet. Well, now I don't have to deal with 900 numbers anymore. Imagine "feeling" the person on the other end of the live webcams on the p0rn websites.

  2. My idea for a quiet PC... on Building the Ultimate Silent PC · · Score: 1, Funny

    Block all vents and unplug the fans. That should make it extremely quiet, don't you think?

  3. Obviously... on Airborne Mouse · · Score: 4, Interesting

    this has very limited applications. I think it will be difficult to play games with this, since I use the keyboard also. Then there is the issue of whether I want to hold my hand up in the air when using my mouse in the first place. That has to hurt after a few minutes.

  4. What palladium does is... on Lucky Green vs. Palladium · · Score: 1

  5. I wonder what would happen if... on Floor Vacuum Robot for $200 · · Score: 1

    I certainly hope the AI programmers on that robo-vacumn cleaner did a good job. I sure would like to see what it would do if I left the basement door open and turned it on. Ohhhh. Watch out for the first step. It's a loo loo!

  6. Hollywood is doomed? on Star Wars Producer Says Box Office is Doomed · · Score: 2, Insightful

    I don't think so. I didn't see any technical/analytical numbers on the website. I find it skeptical that Hollywood has only three years of life left. Yes, the ever rising cost of going to the movies can be a burden, but you can't beat going out and "getting away" from house. I guess when you get a little older and have kids, you cherish that a lot more. Then there is always someone out there always out there to get you to that dollar (in this case it is the video rental places), but I haven't seen the movie theaters in our town desperate for customers. It all comes with the territory. Besides, without Hollywood, there wouldn't be any new movies to rent in the first place.

  7. Recharging fuel cells on Fuel Cell Laptop announced by Toshiba · · Score: 3, Interesting

    I would like a regular GPS enabled phone. I don't really care for a camera in a phone mostly because I don't see the need for it. Now, if my phone had a GPS, then I wouldn't have to put up with my wife nagging me about stopping for directions when I am driving

    This is not news though. The universities have been looking at Microsoft sourcecode for a long time now and so do some companies that have to develop software the way rtr.com is doing. It is just the licensing agreement that matters here which will not let you disclose a single line of code. Too bad. I would like to see the line that says: if (strcmp(browser, "IE") != 0) { //need code to remove/screw partitions here crash the computer }

    No, you got it all wrong you bonehead. As are most people, I have been around computers long enough to see/use a Mac and I have to say, if I had a choice between, Linux, Mac and PC, I would never pick a PC. The only reason, the PCs are used so much is because of the applications. Now with the emulators on Linux, there is no need to have Windows. As for Macs, there truly is no need to have any drivers installed just get your display to run on 16-bit colors. Linux crashes, Macs crash, but not as often as Windows does.

    I read the OSNews article about "Joe and Jane User" and I have to say, no matter how much you pretend that you are a newbie, unless you really are one, then I feel like you can't understand our frustration. I am just getting my feet wet in Linux and it has been a little hard since I don't know the difference between GNOME and KDE except that they have different background and act a little differently and overall are slightly different. Having been a long time Windows user, I don't really care about the differences. So, I think that RedHat has done a great job of combining the two destops into one to ease confusion for oridinary users like myself. Way to go RedHat.
