Add to the fact the pretty screensaver is gone and I don't know if I'll continue to use Seti@home anymore. Alot of people used and love the screensaver besides me.
It had a really bad story is what killed it. It had some of the best CGI I've ever seen. If they actually did a movie that had the characters from Final Fantasy 7 or another one of the games and a good story it would have done some pretty decent numbers.
Square shot themselves in the foot with the story in Final Fantasy:The Spirits Within period
It has to pander to the lowest common denominator because the majority of the people that watch the show are clueless about computers. If Leo or any of the gang take the hardcore route the show wouldn't have lasted as long as it has.
I always thought they should have made a show for the hardcore, linux, and mac crowds though.
Sure they showed a little of each in TSS but if they showed anymore they would have had to get rid of Sarah the clueless wonder and her spoonfed tips.
Aside from that rant I was really looking forward to the break up of Kevin and Sarah and too how they would get along afterwords on the show.;)
a pretty big Pr0n collection I've amassed over the years. I wonder if the person that finds it would tell anybody or not tell anyone and keep it for themselves!
"Why the hell do you think PC sales are so low, and so game companies are turning to consoles? Don't give me the "games were better in the olden days" spin, because we've got everything from Far Cry to Invisible War to SimCity 4 to Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 to...you get the picture."
You ever think that companies are turning to consoles more and more because they have large installed userbase? A good selling console game roughly equals 1 million copies sold. Conversely a good selling pc game roughly equals 50,000 copies sold. Also there's alot less tech support needed for console games unlike the pc games.
Also don't fool yourself that piracy on consoles doesn't happen or isn't a problem. Just hop on over to supernova.org and you can download more console games than you can shake a stick at and that's only on bittorrent's I might add.
Out of all those rpg's listed maybe 2 or 3 will be of interest to the Japanese consumer. Have you ever seen what comes out over there across the pacific?
Datings sims, Horse racing sims, and a bunch of other quirky genre games are huge over there. There is a huge difference between the American gamer and the Japanese gamer.
It is very hard to penetrate the japanese market and M$ should have done the research to get the games that appeal to the Japanese gamer and get those games released over there. Releasing the majority of the US line-up over in Japan isn't going to cut it.
I agree some of the best programming on cable was on TechTV back in it's early years. TSS, COH, and the Dvorak show I can't remember the name off hand.
TSS and COH are still pretty good just not as good as they were back in the day. I will miss Leo and wish him well. I just hope I don't have to put up with that script kiddie Kevin as host.
If Sony or Nintendo were to goto to Microsoft and say we'd like to license parts of Window's so they could do the same. Microsoft would say they were SOL. Sony or Nintendo has no way competing or countering that you can develop games for windows and the xbox2 with very little change to the code to publish the game on either platform.
Remember Microsoft has a monopoly in the PC desktop market and this can be viewed as unfair advantage if Microsoft were to refuse Sony or Nintendo if they wanted to license that code from Windows.
I own all 3 consoles and play PC games and I'm all for cutting down development costs but if this is going to let Microsoft bully their way in to gain marketshare I'm not for it.
So far Sony has handed Microsoft their asses and heads on a silver platter. It's time to see if Microsoft can actually gain market share without using Windows as leverage.
If it wasn't for Mature games we may very well be with Nintendo, Sega, or MS atop the video game industry. Sony with their Playstation did something Nintendo wouldn't do. They catered to the Mature audience.
Sure Nintendo had their big name franchise games, Mario, Zelda, Starfox, etc, but they refused to make any mature games and stayed towards marketing towards kids. Sony grabbed that audience that Nintendo abandoned and became king of the console market almost overnight.
Today we see the effects of Nintendo's decision. They are fighting for the #2 position on the console market. Nintendo has had some developers stop developing for the Gamecube all together. The only reason Nintendo is till around in the market today as a hardware based video game company is because of the Gameboy otherwise Nintendo would have more than likely have had taken the road Sega had to do and become a software development house.
We'll see within the next 5 years after Sony's PSP debuts if Nintendo will reverse their thinking.
The DOJ will let it slide like they have everything else. They've been giving away Windows to get a customer if Linux has threatened to take that customer and nothing has been done about it. Why would they do anything about Windows bundling a virus scanner?
But to do this you have to have competent writers. The current writers can't even do 1 more right let alone a triology of them.
A big problem with the current Star Trek movies are the writers. Once they ditch them the series will improve immensely.

Microsoft can't give away consoles. It's illegal and called dumping. I doubt they want to end up with an anti-trust lawsuit again.
Aye, the spam filter sets this email client above all the rest.
Her name was Kate Botello(sp?) and I always found her annoying. Bring Back Morgan Webb to TSS!!
It just didn't have the FF feel to me at least. I wish they would go back to the castles and horses instead of the Sci-Fi stuff.
Leave Sci-Fi to Sci-Fi series.

Cryptography has been a buzz word for years. Heck, I'd wager to say cryptography has been a buzzword longer than the web has.

I cenrtainly hope I don't have to see more of "Script Kiddie" Kevin because Leo is leaving. Kevin is more annoying than Leo is.
They need to make Yoshi the host.

This is what I was waiting for to buy into the DVD burner arena. CD-r's were perfectly fine for me till now.
Burnable Dual Layer DVD's are too hard to pass up.
Ugh, I thought I proof read it all and didn't bother to look at the title.
It should read:
Mature Games is what put the Playstation on the map.
If it wasn't for Mature games we may very well be with Nintendo, Sega, or MS atop the video game industry. Sony with their Playstation did something Nintendo wouldn't do. They catered to the Mature audience.

Unlike the US who just gives M$ a slap on the wrist.
Yes, I'm from the US.

I never figured out why they dumped the Road Rash franchise. If there was oldie game made for the next gen system this is it.
Hi, Al Gore!
I don't know where you live but Console games cost only around $50 here in the States not $80...
Maybe we'll see some movies that are for the older crowd like PG-13 and above.
Get Firebird + AD Blocker...I haven't seen any ads pop-up/banner/flash ads in over a year.
