First, you're comparing a Truck to a compact. Second, you're comparing a used car to a new car. Apples and oranges. Why not then just compare a used $500 car to a new Honda hybrid?
For a site for nerds, which generally means more brains than brawn, many people seem to think brawn would win over brains. I guess they got beat up too many times in school.
If you think the majority of people who bought GBA backup systems also wrote homebrew games, you must also think that most Linux users have contributed to Open Source.

has less than 0.002% THD, DTS/DD decoding is done via software. Most likely your receiver has more distortion and costs many times more.
I don't understand this whole "backup" arguement. I play many games on PC and Consoles and never had one "go bad" (and I also lend out my games). Also, games generally have a very short time span (there are exceptions like Counterstrike). Just like a regular warranty, if it does go bad within 30 days, I'm sure the publisher will replace it for you. If you're using them as coasters, well...
Nice FUD. MS had nothing to do with the design direction of Halo, only that it would come out on XBox first. See http://www.planetxbox.com/features/diary/halo/0514 01/
A motor is a motor. However, you are correct that it doesn't change the output from the engine, but it does change the output from the wheels. You can measure horsepower at the crank or at the wheels that's why on cars you see them differentiate between horsepower generated by the engine and horsepower that actually gets to the wheels.
Nintendo owned Donkey Kong and Star Fox before Rare ever made games using those characters, so it's amusing that anyone would think Rare would take those with them when they never owned those franchises in the first place. As for Microsoft spending a lot to acquire Rare, keep in mind that MS has $50 bil in the bank and no debt. Also, Microsoft has always been long term focused not short term. I doubt they expect to make back the money any time soon.
I don't see why it has to be one or the other? There are console type games and PC type games. For example, Mario, Street Fighter, Zelda are console type games that don't play well on a PC. FPS and RTS are generally better on PC. Personally, I like sitting on my couch playing a console game with a TV that is twice the size of my monitor and speakers many times larger and not wondering if I got the latest patch for the game because my hardware isn't the same as the stuff they tested it on.
The argument of consoles being behind a PC is stupid. How much did you pay for the PC and how much is a console? A video card can cost 50% more than a console by itself!
Use a console for what it does best and a PC for what it does best. It's like arguing that a dish washer is better than a clothes washer.
Obviously this is security for video game manufacturers. Companies like Sega make video games for the XBox. It takes people to makes those games. People need money to live. If MS just allowed rampant piracy on their console, 3rd parties would stop making games for the XBox since no one is actually buying software and XBox dies. Seems rather obvious to me.
This is just more FUD. I know that here in Seattle the local PBS is already broadcasting in HDTV. Look here to see if your city is already broadcasting or when they plan to:

Actually, it has most of the features I'm looking for except USB2.0 or Firewire support and more importantly, it doesn't appear to have a memory expansion slot of any sort.
Let's see Starcraft is a RTS for the PC, Starcraft:Ghost is a FPS for Console. Somehow I don't think they care what you think since you are not their intended audience.
Obviously neither Lindows nore Wine is targetting you as a consumer. I should no longer be surprised to see these types of comments on Slashdot where every geek thinks every product that comes out is for them when in fact 99.9% of the time they aren't even close to being in the demographic.
It's not "real" grey, it's dithered flashing grey. I need to set my CRT monitor to 85Hz not to see flickering, for a slow lcd refresh, I'm sure this would bother me.

To permanently disable the service with XP from the command line: sc config messenger start= disabled

First and foremost, it's a computer. It just happens to have Tivo capabilities built into it.

If torque changes, horsepower changes. Horsepower = Torque x RPM / 5252
I thought the point of Open Source is that I can take the source and do (almost) whatever I want with it? So what's the problem?
Regarding delays, I guess you've never heard of 3DRealms? Maybe the name Duke Nuke'Em rings a bell...

16-bit means 2^16 = 65536 colors, 2^12 = 4096 colors. Palm believes it simulates ~58000 colors using a 12-bit display.
Not surprising from the company that claims 12-bit is only a few thousand colors short of 16-bit
You obviously haven't seen a HDTV show on a HDTV set. Play a video game in 640x480 then play it in 1024x768 and tell me which you prefer?

The great thing about Open Source is that you can fix the bug yourself. So get to it!
