  1. Pizza Boys and Cops on Auto-Censoring DVD Player · · Score: 1

Great, all my movies are going to be of the Pizza boy showing up at the girls dorm (skip forward ~20 minutes) the Police Officer pulling over the very attractive woman for speeding (skips forward ~15 minutes). I sure won't play any of my home movies (wink, wink), I don't need it skipping ahead 5 minutes.

  2. I don't see a problem on Lawyers Using Databases To Grab Clients · · Score: 1

First, I RTFA and IANAL. Criminal arrests are a matter of public record. If someone wants to make a buck on that, I have no problem with it. In the article it said that 1 of 10 arrested ended up using the service, which shows the detainees needed a lawyer. For the parents that didn't know their mentally challenged son was arrested, they should be angry with the police for not informing them. But they should be boarderline thankful that the lawyers did. If they hadn't been notified, and the son were to be locked up, signing away rights without representation, they'd be raising holy hell.

After your commitment to ATTWS is complete, you own the phone and can request the unlock code. Then, as an unlocked GSM phone, you can use it on providers in Europe, or T-Mobile in the USA. You may have problems accessing the data network, namely GPRS, but the voice will work.

I agree, games today need more flair. Approximately 30 pieces to be exact. But why limit yourself there, Edwin has 35 pieces.

  6. This once happened at work on Stolen Laptop Alarms · · Score: 2, Interesting

We were rolling out a wireless network and it was at the manager's discretion on who received wlan cards for their laptop (since there already was a wired network, unessential for everyone to have it). This was back when the cards were worth around $80. Anyway, one of the engineers was turned down, and that day he went and stole someone else's the wlan card. By the end of the day he was escorted out when the stolen wlan's MAC address was traced to his logon.

  7. Urban Legend? on Space Burial · · Score: 2, Interesting

Wasn't there an urban legend about an engineer that took some of his buddy's ashes, epoxied them onto a Mars sattelite, and wrote the whole thing anonymously (luckly for me Anonymously is spelled for you in the posting form)?

  8. Spike and Angel on WB Cancels Angel · · Score: 1

It is good fun to see them fight it out. The storyline since Buffy is Spike and Angel were old friends who could barely stand each other. Oh, and Spike is Angels grandson through vampire siring. If this is the end of Angel, I wonder if Sarah will appear. She was supposed to be part of Joss' guarntees to keep Angel on the air, but that wasn't supposed to happen until next season.

  9. Spike in ratings. on WB Cancels Angel · · Score: 2

I only got into Buffy because of Spike. It was the musical episode, and his lament "Let me Rest in Peace." And I grudgingly followed Angel only after the final episode of Buffy because Spike was guarnteed to be on it, despite turning into a pile of ashes saving the world n all. Slightly OT: Did anyone see last weeks? The only good part was Spike dressed up as a Nazi. Angel sees him with the twisted cross at the bottom of an ocean... "Spike, are you a Nazi?" "No, but I just ate one." Another classic Spike moment in Buffy days when he is actively trying to save the world. He said something to the effect of how it's like having little happy meals running around all the time, why would I want to end that?

CC does cover misuse, and I think loss. The thing is you have to purchase it within two weeks of receiving your laptop. It isn't something that can be added on later. And to Dell's credit, they took care of a power wart with next day shipping. Anyone who has had a similiar experience with Best Buy? I doubt it. Checking out www.bestbuysux.org is a definite must before buying their extended warranty.

  17. Typical TiVo Troll comment on VIA/Apex Game Console Details Leaked · · Score: 1

Not very harsh, but that's the typical response. For everyone who's thought they could do better, even at an inflated price, go ahead and try. I've watched with somewhat bated breath the Freevo and MythTV projects, but they always come in more expensive and with zero WAF (wife acceptance factor). I've had several people use my TiVo with no guidance by just mashing a few logiclly positioned buttons and figuring it out on their own. The wife loves TiVo (stand alone) to the point where we're considering the DirectTivo upgrade. TiVo is more than the sum of its parts, ie cheap motherboad + 40/60GB HD + that linux operating system. And if this media hub or pvr referenced in the parent are anything like other Apex products, then forget about a good user interface. The wifes, unfortunately, sometimes have a say in the tech gear purchases.

  19. Tivo phone customer service not much better on ReplayTV Price Drop Bait-and-Switch · · Score: 2, Interesting

Tivo has recently gone to the $30 per call service fee (although it is refunded if it isn't dumb user syndrome). Add the long wait times and you already start out upset. The upside is Tivo doesn't require much maintenance. And over at www.tivocommunity, which is hosted on Tivo's servers yet not affiliated(?) you can get almost anything answered. TivoPONY is a great user, plus you get messages from the likes of TivoSHANNON who sometimes shows up in your under a Tivo yellow star to hawk the HMO, grrrrowl.

  22. Jessie's involvement in the show on Monster Garage's Robotic R/C Car Challenge · · Score: 5, Insightful

Is it just me, or is Jessie just not into doing Monster Garage anymore? He barely shows up during the build. He only seems interested in trying out the monster the day of, and seems highly critical. Even the handing out of the tools at the end is very half-hearted. I'd be surprised if he signed up for another season.

  23. Typical Sony on 802.11b Memory Stick for CLIE · · Score: 1, Flamebait

Once again, Sony creates a problem by creating a proprietary standard. How long have we had CF WiFi adapters? SD WiFi are coming out, getting better among the manufacturers. While I love Sony's quality, I prefer the cheaper CF storage and adapters. Good for Sony for putting CF on its high end PDA, but I can't believe they disabled them for storage.
