Um, the stateside version of this Sony PDA doesn't have bluetooth or 802.11b. The highly sought out European one does have bluetooth. They can accept a wireless card, but it HAS to be Sony and it HAS to cost lots of money.
Looks more like a NX80V to me, but still doesn't have the wireless. AFAIK, the only Sony that includes the 802.11b out of the box is the $699 PEG-UX60
I'm with this guy. I've already filled a 40GB portable USB drive (for work listening) with 192 kbps and I'm only about 3/4 of my way through the archives.
But as I'm getting closer to filling the sucker, I'm thinking of the Clerks line "We're gonna need a bigger boat. Man goes into cage, cage goes into salsa, shark's in the salsa."
"He lights up a Monarch menthol as he shows me his computer room, an intimate homemade space built off the side of an aging two-tone mobile home -- robin's-egg blue and white -- which sits among hundreds of Airstreams and Miami Deco single-wides in the Sunset Colony Mobile Home Park in Fort Lauderdale, Fla."
We're used to the filthy rich that just built a house that eveyone can sign up for mailing lists spammer, but this guy is mobile! Gonna be hard to keep track of them Duke Boys.

I think the only real gain you would have is low power consumption. With WiFi you'd be able to run multiple channels and have IP addresses. The documentation and know how on that is well established. Bluetooth is cute, but buggy, and it certainly isn't the pancea for all things short ranged and wireless.
The long wait times are rough, but part of the problem is cultural. Obviously their call centers are overseas now and their people are using nicknames such as "Mark" or "Tom" to try and relate. I've had two problems on my laptop that have required hardware fixes and it has taken no less than three or four calls over a period of time to get to that point.
Iff the system were dead, then yes it should be public domain. But RTFA and you'll see the work is continuing to be updated as new fields of study arise.
I've heard it said that the US is to coal what the Middle East is to oil. And looking around Kansas City, we have a ton of coal. I guess people just don't want to be driving around with steam engines anymore, so electric (not a hybrid) is still a priority.
Go and check your TV right now, do you have one with the DVD player built-in? Why not? Is it because new formats keep coming out or you didn't feel like replacing your existing TV just because DVD integration is more compact.
I still like my components separate, the useful life of each of them is increased.
Anyone who has had the (mis)fortune of working retail electronics knows to Sell What's Available Today.
The only person worse than the guy who keeps coming in to play with the toys is the one who tries to "upgrade" models because his suddenly becomes defective the day the latest and greatest is released.
I'm on a gov't contract in Kansas City, MO working with some Marines. I think it is a national initiative, they're phasing out all Marine programmer analysts. Most of our guys are getting turned into network admins, but there is no more COBOL, C++, or SQL training going on.
Bluetooth is kinda like the first time you ever used a remote control for the TV instead of getting up to change the channel. (For those of you who have ever had to actually do that.)
You make one device discoverable and tell the other to search. And if the profiles are set so that the devices can make sense of each other, they start working.
I believe with Macs you can control iTunes with the phone (sounds cool) and others are working on getting Winzip to function.
My experience: I have a Sony T68i phone w/ Bluetooth. My grey market USB adapter from Mitsumi was a dud, but the second US model worked pretty well thanks to some Widcomm software. There isn't much I've done that couldn't be achieved with a cable, so maybe it is just pure, uncut geek factor.
Why is it you can't get a mainstream portable mp3 player that uses CF? 256MB cards are only ~$40 a pop, and the 4GB ones are getting afforable http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=03/08/04/133821 3
For day to day printing, I use a cheap HP 3100 monochrome printer. Toner can be stored a long time, costs little, and gives excellent results.
However, businesses learned long ago that owning and maintaining and owning something like a color laser printer can be expensive. When I want to print something special, I use the Kinkos KFP tool and just pick up my prints anytime (open 24 hours). If I want a photo, I upload it to clubphoto.com when they're having a promotion or I'll use the Fuji machine at the local super wal-mart. I generally avoid using the Kodak kiosks as they use thermal dye sublimation, like a color laser printer. The Fuji's use real photo paper and expose the image. Pretty decent results. But my best prints have been from clubphoto and yahoo photo prints.
So I've completely eliminated little ink cartridges from my life, that is except for relatives needing them. I usually direct them to ink4art.com.
So the guy thought he would make it repairing computers out of his apartment. They're going through some financial difficulties and his wife stands by him. Then what does he do, but plunge himself into this video game where he is a god and the part time gamers have to do things like have their feet sucked and put up with his sexual ennuendos.
The guy denies it, but from what I've read in the article, his original posts, and now this, he's in serious denial. He should be out there looking for a better job, honing skills, getting some education, loading boxes for UPS, whatever to get motivated to improve himself.
Instead he is playing the victim, getting lots of attention, probably spending even more time in this pseudo-reality.
I feel for his wife, this isn't the behavior of a life partner.
Hmmm, I think I have that spam around here somewhere. Not my thing though...
Too bad Windows XP will require activation and shut down 30 days into the project.
See you at the reunion!

Heaven forbid a Communist country get behind in technology.
How long until ThinkGeek puts up a banner ad for single atom green lasers?

Cell phones can cause problems for some premie monitoring equipment.

He'd be liable, just by having something this fun in his backyard, he's asking for people to come and get hurt.

So someone, who in no way has mastered his native language, is telling the C++ crowd how to write a language. Unbelieveable!!!
mod this guy way up, I was having a hard time on that one!

This article became relevent when Giles, Andrew, and one of the Jr Slayers were playing a little DnD and were confronted by Trogdor the Burninator!
Hilarious!
