  1. How long would it take? on USAF Considers Creation of Military Botnet · · Score: 2, Funny

How long would it take to design and deploy something like this as a government driven project. Maybe if they would write it in Ada....

  6. Retailers links all gone on US, Aussie Officials Yank GHB-Producing Toys · · Score: 1

If you go to any of the former retailers - Amazon, Wal-Mart, etc. searching for 'aquadots' (any variation) leads to a 'not found' message or something unrelated to the beads. It would be nice if they put a notice acknowledging the recall, but I guess that opens them up to some level of liability. I always thought the things looked too much like Dippin Dots anyway.

The DTD (or more recently schema) should define the allowable content and structure of the XML document for validation purposes. This is supposed to be one of the selling points of XML, being able to verify that a document is valid.

I am way out of my league with AI at this level so I will try not to be too dumb with this.

So data compression tries to replace repeated chunks of data (character strings) with a common, hopefully much smaller, reference value (my simplistic view). If you are trying to compress knowledge, are you trying to find repeated (or at least similar) concepts and replace those with a common access point? For example, "Boiling water is hot", "Steaming coffee is hot", "Cheese from pizza right out of the oven can burn your mouth" (to me) have some knowledge relationships that keep you from burning yourself. So could you 'compress' these to a single concept like 'do not touch' or 'be careful'? Again, just trying to get a handle on this concept.

Just the other day the Sam's Club web page had an ad for Segway XTs. Now the ad is gone and a site search returns nothing about them. Maybe they were worried that if they ever wanted to use Wal-mart's 'Rollback pricing' slogan it might send the wrong message.
