Vista Delays are gettign to be like gasoline price hikes... anything will delay it.
Prince of Serbia sneazes... Vista is delayed.
MtDew stuck in a vending machien in Redmond... Vista is delayed.
Vist just might be the next great Duke Nukem.
VISTA FOREVER
You would have to be a complete moron to buy McAfee, and even more so for OSX. McAfee is the work package out there. It does nothing but cause problems.
No, I love movies... I'm just tired of thinking "Well, that movie sucked" nine times out of ten when the credits roll.
You sound like you need to get outside more... jeebus.
If this card was around the 65 dollar range, I could see putting it on the shelf here at our little shop, but it falls too short for serious consideration.
The open source driver issue... that's a good point. It would do fine for our Linux guys around here if it had the right drivers.
There are pros and cons to both that I'm not going to get into.
But the one thing that I've found that no one has mentioned yet... For either service... there really are not enough good movies to make either service worth while. Maybe one good flick a month comes out? I was thinking about canning one of the services, but I might just cank both and rent the one flick a month that I actually want to watch.
Just about everyone is fighting spyware now, the good old days when computer problems could be fixed with a virus scan and a defrag are long over. Most problems stem from security holes in the Windows OS and people taking advantage of those holes.
Now lets look at what MS is trying to do to fix it... One Care? Once Care crashed the one system I installed it on to test it. I had to reformat the dang thing.
IE 7? Have you seen the Known Issues sheet for the Beta 2? If you want to install any Updates to Windows you have to uninstall IE7 first. I know this is still Beta, but it's a step backwards from Beta 1.
Vista is looking like a straight up bloody nightmare with different versions with different graphics engines and system requirements that are sky high... and this is just for the bloody OS which should be nothing more than a blank canvas for your Applications.
I'm getting sick of Microsoft... and I'm not the only one.
If Apple could put out reasonable prices for reasonable spec machines like you can order from Dell or HP or whoever. Add in an application like WINE that allows you to run your Windows application and games... then yeah, I bet lots of people would buy Apple and ditch MS.
I would.
But there are a lot of IF's there. And Apple hasn't exactly been the best company for vision, strategic planning and marketing.
Yeah, they do a good job with the Ipod, but they are still a computer company.
They've got a lot of issues to overcome before people make any mass shift.
Contract for the Crytek game engine... Because that would be perfect for the Duke's universe. Then concentrate on clever level designs and all the funny stuff that made Duke so fun to begine with.
I'm trying to see which service is better.
For Netflix:
Pro's... Netflix is fast.
Con's... Netflix has crappy envelopes.
For blockbuster's service:
Pro's... Better envelopes, a coupon once a week for a free in store rental.
Con's... The coupon defeats the purpose of the service, the service is very slow.
Winner:
Netflix. I'm cancelling Blockbuster at the end of the week.
There was a time when I was a bill collector. I once suggested to a lady that she sell her wedding ring. She was a widow. That same day I quit that job and I've never had a job related to collections since.
Telling someone to drop out of college so they could pay a bullcrap settlment... that's even worse than telling a widow to sell her ring. I might have suggested someone let go of their past, but I didn't tell anyone to flush their whole future. That's a special kind of low.
BTW, the next day I went to that lady's house and told her that if she didnt' pay the debt, the company would drop the issue because it wasn't worth going to court over and they would write it off. The company did just that.
The RIAA on the other hand... evil pricks.
For Apple's 30th they need to release a new NEWTON based on the iPod. Give it a sizable full color high rez screen, a small HD, with a load of good features... make it PC, and Linux compatible so others can use it too. Then the Newton wouldn't be such a flop. Make it a competitor to the Orgami. I'd buy one.
I hate to say it... but I hope so. I do... That the OS will be secure and stable and fast and such things as spyware, viruses, and popup ads will all be a thing of the past.
I also hope one day we will have world peace.
I hope to also win the lottery even though I don't play it.
I also hope to have a night of wild sex with Jennifer Anniston and Salma Hyak.
And I want to be the emporer of the moon too...
"seeing a movie in the theater is a 'fuller, more entertaining experience'"
You've got to be kidding me. Outrageous ticket prices. Outrageous consessions prices. Jerks who talk through the movie, cell phones, the kids that have to walk past you every 5 minutes. The girl that screams like she's been shot every time something startling happens on the screen.
If that's what he's talking about... he's going to have to do a lot more work to market that fuller more entertaining experience.
Because the alternative is check a couple boxes on netflix, the movies arrive at your home with no having to go to the theater in the first place. The pizza guy drops off a pie or you heat up a plate of wings or whatever the hell you want. Soda by the liter of whatever you want. Beer or wine could be on the menue. You can pause, rewind, or skip scense on the DVD... the rude people are someplace else... and you're chilling on your comfy couch.
The Home Theater experience is a richer, fuller experience in my opinion.

Well, don't cry about it.

Isn't that the plot of the film "Doom"?
That's pretty much it. Thank God for Linspire.
Why is it that Dvorak reminds me of R.M. Renfield?

Thank God that they didn't leak the new designed tank using this that can transform into a bit robot. D'oh!
I thought it was a lack of imagination that was killing the game industry.
Our computers come with Ubuntu. *finger*

It's called the Internet.

That was one big and expensive bottle-rocket.
My Bad... all Van Dam's flicks melt into one giant nightmare... Except for Hard Target which stands out as horrid all on its own.
I say they go at it like in BLOOD SPORT... roll their hands with tape, dip that in pitch and then into broken glass.
That article was a Chuck Norris/Jack Bauer/Superman Smackdown....
Sucks to be Major Tom.
