Considering that up until about 2000, all of the major Air Traffic Control centers in the US were running on vacuum tubes, we were lucky nothing like this ever happened here. Sure, there were glitches at regional centers, that required controllers to do everything by hand, but nothing that required a full reboot of the entire country's ATC system.
Hopefully the UK will get the new system tested and online before it causes more problems!
And don't forget all the contract labor that has to put financial interests before their own safety, who, as it turns out, made the wrong choice and became victims of a war they had no part in.
Just curious, since the SIPRnet isn't attached to the internet at large, how exactly is MS software supposed to phone home. At best, it'll just get a time out when trying to connect to a specific IP address... at worst, it will connect to another computer on the SIPRnet, which won't know what to do with the incomming traffic, and will probably just ignore it.
Really no chance of this being an issue.. and the software in question is meant to be used on the employee's personal home computer, not their machines at work.
And honestly, I would hope that anyone with access to the secure side would know better than to install anything without commander's approval...
According to the letter as posted on HardOCP, it was sent via email *AND* registered mail to Kyle Bennett. It was sent to 8005 Strecker Ln, Plano TX... Read it again. (:
No it isn't. It's only illegal to SPEND money that you've mutilated.
Ever seen one of those penny smashers at amusment parks? You put in a penny, and some amount of quarters, turn a crank, and it flattens the penny and imprints it with a logo of the park...
Ooooh, a miniseries! They should take the first four books from the New Frontiers series, and make it a new series. It's set in the post-TNG era, so the stage is set, no need to explain back story.
There are a couple cameos from well-known characters (Spock and Picard), and a few lesser known characters play major roles (Dr. Selar, Robin Lefler), and later in the series, Majel Barret would be the perfect actress for Morgan Primus. (Gee, I wonder why... Read the books!)
With the advances of CG, a perfectly believable brikar would be easy to do, too...
Now, if only we could find an executive producer...
Actually, it looks for a series of dots in yellow or green in a specific pattern. On the new $20, it uses the 0's on the back of the bill where it says "20" over and over and over...
The pattern looks something like this:
.. '. '
It's been described as the constallation Orion, but with one star in the belt instead of three. On the new 20, you can find lots and lots of them... for extra credit, find it in the 10 and 20 Euro notes. (:
I have to agree with the sentiment that you could learn tricks by seeing how the original designers did things. I got a space set a long time ago that would "walk" by using a series of swiveling 2x2s.
For the next several months, I was building tons of mechs that walked in the same manner. It was fairly cool. (:
One of my friends and I did exactly the opposite. We would build super-indestructable cars (they had to roll, and had to have a mini-fig inside them). Then we'd crash them together drop them on pavement, throw them down stairs.. and whichever one could still roll, and still had the mini-fig in it the longest, won.
I didn't know legos could get so dented until we did that. (:
Star Wars had good sequels... the prequels suck though.

Actually, I thought long and hard about which operator I wanted to use, and decided on the '=', because it's like setting a variable. I am defining gator as spyware. the '==' would be if I wanted to perform some action based on gator's spywareness.
Or something like that.
Oh, and thanks to the mod that hit me with a "redundant" I appreciate it. (:
Ya, I thought it was funny. And it's actually 118, if you count the last space, so I need to find two more letters to throw in there somewhere. (:
Because it IS old hardware.

You mean like this sign?

Ya, they should totally post a sign like that right outside Area 51.
Oh, wait...
sorry, but the DVDs will have the new ending song for RotJ. I dislike it too, the JubJub song was much more entertaining.
I can't believe that John Williams sold out like that.

James's actually is correct. It could also be written James', but either works.
Besides, "oy" is Yiddish or something, not English. (:
I'll just TiVo everything for the week, and catch up the week after!
but not like chloe is dying.

You're saying all of those are "highly illegal"?
AAAHHHH! You sent them an unsolicited email! You could be liable for thousands of dollars in damages! Quick! Hire a lawyer!
And Chewabacca lives on Endor! It does not make sense!
the s/foo/bar command will replace all instances of "foo" with "bar". In this example, it changes "this" to "their".
Try reading the article next time. This was the first year that each screener was marked individually, so it could be traced to one person.

gator = spyware.
Deal with it.
Do we have DNA's DNA available?
Just wondering
