And they seem to be doing well, as they have recently (within the last month or so) introduced a pay for in-game perks (such as free/reduced green fees, faster leveling) model. I see more than a few of these paying users (they have their character names appear as gold or bronze).
I notice that there are always new users; which is both good and frustrating at the same time.
I, of course, am still plugging away as a free user, dutilfully playing, winning rounds, and (seemingly) constantly reparing my clubs.
PtR - It almost seemed like you could go crazy on the beats... I recall getting into the beat of a song, and then trying different beats (cut 1/3, 1/4 or even 1/8 time of the actual song), with no regard to the actual buttons displayed. And in the end, I would have an unbelivable score (somewhere 10 times higher than if you just pressed the 'right' buttons).
UJR- Can't remember as well (my roommate in college had it). I recall just completing it once and failing to improvise very well.
PR2 - Just tried it last week. Finished it once; tried to improvise, but it was very hit and miss; maybe the game is more strict, or maybe I just don't have the rythym like I did a while ago. It appears that your various senseis grade you differently, depending on what they preached. I could improvise, but at best, i'd get half positive and half negative scores. At worst, they all hated me and knocked me off quicker than a white guy at the Apollo.;)
The Paranoid News Network. 24 hours of the latest vulnerabilities, occasional how-to shows on fixing/upgrading/simple updating your systems, a Mclauglin group/Capital Gang-esqe group of hardware/software security leaders who discuss topics and berate microsoft, and a call in show for frazzled IT admins. That'd be cool;)
Intersting because the male host was one of the cycle of hosts (from the pool of potential hosts) at G4. So they're all probably in cohoots with each other; Spike's coverage won't be very different from G4's
hey, you may find that boring, but that's what Eamon games were all about in the 80's. Designable and editable, it was a pretty fun text adventuring game universe. I remember some even had sound (some Star Wars-based mission had the 'sounds' of lightsabers hitting and missing.) Because of that, I think that's one of the first fun games I played on my Apple IIe. Here's an example of the gameplay:
> ready sword
Ready.
> attack bluebeard
You hit Bluebeard for 14 points of damage. Bluebeard misses.
You see Bluebeard, knocking on death's door.
> attack bluebeard You hit Bluebeard for 10 points of damage. Bluebeard dies.
I love games. I'm a typical guy (prefer dogs over cats). And Nintendogs (to say this in the most non-girly way) is uber-cute. What else do I need to buy the DS + ND?;P But actually I think it's pretty cool from the AI/realism standpoint. Check out the flash movie of it. Even if you hate dogs or tamagotchi or pocket monsters, you have to admit they simulated the dogs darn well. They jump, run, twitch, wag, and bark very convincingly. I'll most likely get it, even though I might not buy many other DS games.
My friend saw the video that this article is talking about... umm, and I have to say that if there are young women in Norway that are wiling to do THAT, there's probably more than a few that wouldn't mind being a booth babe. Just dare them to and give them a test afterwards;).
but this sort of thing will sort itself out in a week or two. The vets will dominate and once their levels rise, they can start finding real opponents again (or open another account). This isn't too newsworthy. Now, if this happened on a WoW sever, THAT would be a truly wrath-inspiring, riot-inducing, flame-provoking, comment-whoring slashdot story.
The only way you'd get anything worse than PG-13 would be if you had scenes of direct violence and a gruesome reaction. Say a lightsaber swing is filmed that cuts through someone. For an 'R' rating, we'd need to be shown blood being boiled (cauterization), sinews being severed and burned, AND the person would have to be looking and screaming or something while the lightsaber was in them. Just seeing people getting cut and falling down motionless won't cut it. I wouldn't find that too appealing (hey I can just watch Sin City again) but it would be funny if someone did do that.
Of course one nud scene of a cetain actress would put it over R instantly. I don't think anyone (cept parents) would object to that.
Is their gov't doing this because the torrenters are infringing upon the hundreds of those hard-working $1-a-dvd companies? I mean, those companies go out of their way to make their DVDs Region Free, show off their creative subtitling skills (for Anime (Jpn->Cat->Eng)), and put them in nice little sleeves instead of those overly inefficient cases we're used to. Because we sure need those companies.;)
Karateka(dos): Beating that stupid eagle and the shogun, while easy now, was really tough for some reason (I was young then, and my Video gaming skills were still in development;) )
Yie Ar Kung Fu(arc): Finally beating those last two guys (the one with the two sticks and the clone of you) took basically years of effort. Pure elation.
Time Bandit(AtariST): Don't know how many people have played that. But finally beating that game was another very gratifying moment. Seems to me that beating games back then was truly gratifying, compared to now.
Shining Force (Gen): I found that killing the final boss with the hero character gave you a special attack animation that is, AFAIK, is only shown in that specific case. Very cool and satisfying.
Mutant League Football (Gen): Discovering that you could win by killing off enough players from the other team. Not exactly emotional, but really funny and cool.
Xenogears(PS)- After spending nearly 150 hours on it (80 of which were probably cutscenes). Finally seeing the ending was very cool
Goldeneye(N64)- Finally beating the time on the very last secret level, thereby unlocking the cheat (I've forgotten what it was already), on 007 mode. That was gratifying (not to mention cool as my buddies were watching me trying to beat that last damn level)
FF8(PS) - The cutscene with the flowers all blooming. Very cool and moving.
There's probably more, but I'd better get back to work
I guess someone finally had to add an RPG element to it. I was getting a little tired of playing this one. I recall playing this game over and over and over... and subsequently dying over and over and over.
Just go to Frys if there's one in your area. They often offer lower than usual prices on games that bave been out 0-2 weeks. The only good thing about these two clone stores (EB and Gamestop) is their used games. This merger won't affect me much.
With the hubble going and the shuttle most likely gone for good, it's sad to see how space is getting less and less accessible. Successive generations are seeing less and less expolration, scientific experiments, and just plain cool stuff from space anymore. Without the cold ware, there's just less and less influence of science on the current administration to push through space-based research. From a purely practical economic standpoint, it is hard to find reasons to go into space. There's no military race for space right now (I don't think Bin Laden is working on a satellite attack system or countermeasure system) which is good but kind of sad.
The only thing that would solve all these funding probelms would be MALEVOLENT SPACE ALIEN ATTACKS. Nothing like a good ol interplanetary tiff to get our cheap, isolationist political leaders to get that space race up and running again. I mean, with a few MALEVOLENT SPACE ALIEN ATTACKS going, we as a planet would definitely put Trillions more into the development of agile space flight, military stategy, new weapon development (energy based), etc. oh well. All we can do is hope and ask for MALEVOLENT SPACE ALIEN ATTACKS to happen soon.;)
Oh boy. If we could all blog completely anonymously, flame wars would start at the drop of a pixel on a PSP screen. People have no need for civilities such as modesty or self-effacement if they have no 'appearances' to keep up. You would have no idea about what set of words was news, lies or both.
I recall playing so much SFII to see if it was real; I think I ended up convincing myself that you had to perfect everyone in 1P mode to get it. Needless to say, I wasn't successful (my best effort was about ~15 of 24 rounds perfect.)

I think if you watch any of the Turner stations, theres a chance you saw a promo for Robocop for TBS or TNT (they showed it a lot 2001-2004 or so).
Here's my impressions:
;)

Yeah, you probably don't want the Aibo learning how to play Halo 2 (although that'd be highly kickass)
Well now I know which leader you were in Civ
It seems only a brief time ago it was
espn.starwave.com
or was that a completely different seattle startup company?
Well, I guess if I had to become a smithy in the D&D world, appraisers would rate my weapons
-1, Crappy
or
-2, Cardboard

Loads of fun for a nerdy kid in the 80's.

From here, the PS3 looks like the most high tech George Foreman Grill in history.

Wahhhhhgghhhaaaaaaaaaaeeeeeeeeeuuugghhhhhh!

That'd sure piss Sam off.

One of my favorite episodes! The 80's cartoon parody what if episode. Watch it right now.
