They aren't saying, "Slavery is Freedom!" but rather that without the additional access, they'd be worse off in comparison to limited access. Freedom has to start somewhere, and it doesn't start with full-blown open access to everything.
Then, honestly, why not simply state that members must behave themselves lest they get kicked out. There is no implicit reason to include any sexual preference in any tagline/recruiter message for any guild.
On most servers, you'll see Guilds recruiting "Mature" players, and this is precisely the sort of thing the GLBT-friendly wanted, yet chose to phrase sexuality into the message.
Instead of engaging in Theorycraft, how about you provide an example of a player that was suspended and/or banned for saying that he has a boyfriend (or that she has a girlfriend).
Yes, Blizzard has a policy against it but it is not enforced.
Right. Which is why several people I've reported (for typing homophobic remarks) have gone to whine about their suspensions/bans on the official forums, right? Reporting people for improper conduct is the best way to get them disciplined for said improper conduct.
So you don't complain about all the other players who use gay-bashing language, screaming "Faggot!" at anyone who pisses them off, and receive no punishment from Blizzard... But you claim inappropriateness when a GLBT group forms in an effort to counter this abuse?
I guess you think they should sit back down and take the abuse silently like good little homosexuals... I can't believe this received a +4 Insightful on Slashdot.
Where did he state any of that?
Finding it inappropriate for a GLBT guild to form up (reporting it) and finding it grossly offensive (thus, reporting it as well) that someone could run around screaming "Faggot!" are not mutually exclusive.
The company (Blizzard) cannot possibly be certain that the promoters of the guild are actually attempting to create a GLBT-friendly atmosphere. In the past, people have done similar with the intent to harrass any recruits or inquisitive parties (whose guilds have been shut down rather quickly, but the damage was done).
Blizzard will head this all off by discriminating against GLBT folks.
So now you're allowed to go around calling other people and things gay, but refer to yourself that way, and you're in trouble.
Uh, no. They're saying it isn't a good idea to form such a guild, as it promotes a lot of hate-mongering. Additionally, if you'd read the blurb at all, you'd know that calling people "gay" or any derivative can result in suspension (rather than a warning).
Like it or not, schools are effectivley daycares for children. Unless, of course, you plan on sitting with your children in each class. There's something to be said about home schooling here, but in its absence, yes, schools do provide "parenting" (in addition to education) for kids while mommy and daddy are working/etc.
If Symantec has in their knowledgebase that Spybot S&D corrupts Ghost images, one would assume that they would be readily able to prove that it does, in fact, corrupt Ghost images. It doesn't take a week to say, "Well, yes, it does, and here's the scenario(s)." Unless of course, it doesn't corrupt images or they cannot prove that Spybot is the program/issue corrupting said images.
many are aware of the double profit companies make on pre-owned games, this would ensure the death of trading games between friends and even going to a friend's house to play a little multiplayer.'
And if your own personal console/player/reader dies and you have to replace it, you now have to replace these "protected" discs? Bullshit.
If console price/overhead = winnar, then wouldn't Nintendo be at the top of the mound?. It might just be me, but ML is definatley way off the mark on this call. XB360 might come out on top overall (in the end), but it isn't strictly due to console prices and devaluation.
Welcome to posting the same biased drivel as everyone else. Worse than that, the bias is clearly misinformation, as Hoglund's full report discloses further how the program doesn't really do anything interesting or wrong. Instead, he uses his rootkit article to set some truly phenominal spin on the capabilities of Warden in order to (successfully) stir up morons who don't bother to do their own research (or even read his original documentation).
It's FUD of the best kind. One day, I really do hope that journalists won't base stories on work that is, at best, pure deception.
Kudos to Blizzard for actually enforcing their policies. If you had a name like "Drunkenslut", "Heilhitler", or even "Goatfucker", I'd expect them to change those too. Obviously, "Cmdrtaco" is much less offensive as some, but it is just as much a violation of the policy. As an aside, anyone on your friendlist/guildlist still has you, albiet with your new name.
Perhaps, in the future, you should simply read and follow the rules set forth upon the game-world? This is akin to saying, "Hey, I was suspended due to cursing in General Chat! WTF? There are rules against doing that?"
Very important to note that Jack Thompson apparently did not actually fax Seattle PD. Quoth Gabe, "The fact is that Jack actually sent the fax to everyone but the intended recipient at the Seattle PD."
If that's true, then it is a pretty serious problem for Jack.
Wouldn't this only apply to people who type "properly"? Or did this apply to any and all forms of bastardized typing methods (for example, hunt'n-peck)?
Wait, so what you're implying is that there is new music out there that you'd like to hear?
I'm on a "boycott" of sorts as well, only I haven't actually enjoyed -anything- that has been put out in the past decade or so. No, I'm not older either; I just find that the majority of the music coming out is truly terrible.
Most stores don't even carry 18+ (AO) games. Additionally, most stores generally follow the ESRB guidelines when selling video games. I can recall quite a few times when a (youngish) kid was turned away from buying a game 'cause they were not old enough.
The primary problem is that the parents purchase the games for their kids without any concern about what might be within.
If this is the only requirement to ban/reclassify games, then anything modifiable (or hackable) can and should also be banned.
If the content is in the product, but is not able to be accessed through "normal" means (read: non modification, either via patching or device such as PAR) then why is the product being rated based on said effectively disabled content?
They aren't saying, "Slavery is Freedom!" but rather that without the additional access, they'd be worse off in comparison to limited access. Freedom has to start somewhere, and it doesn't start with full-blown open access to everything.
So... don't turn the volume all the way up, moron?
Personal accountability is dead.

They typically respond to "reports" of rule-breaking, as they don't have a team large enough to be proactively monitoring everyone all at once.

How the hell did you get a +4 Insightful?

Read & comprehend.

Why do people shell out $25 for the latest and greatest books? Entertainment.

It is relatively simple.
Why not? Sounds reasonable, yes? Aside from, you know, requiring a hard drive (extra 100$), you mean?
And if your own personal console/player/reader dies and you have to replace it, you now have to replace these "protected" discs? Bullshit.

If common sense were common, everybody would have it.
