If you can't afford cable you shouldn't be voting. Jokes aside, it's nice to see all the anti establishment fervor plus some of the old alliances ( the rich and evangelicals for one) breaking down. Maybe we'll see some real change.
From what I can see. Oh well, whatever gets then more H1-bs, right? Sad thing is we've got exactly two presidential candidates (Trump and Sanders) opposed to this junk and neither is electable.
For the ruling class. As a member of the ruling class the only real threat to your never-ending rule is the military. It's just too tempting to cut them out of the loop....
not that it would make a world of sunshine and happiness either. But Orwell's book wasn't about out of control government, it was about the negative impact of television and other forms of mass media. It always bugs me that even schools don't bother to cover this until maybe when you hit college.
Sure, I agree with Apple on this one (though I'd argue they're less concerned about freedom and more so about having to pay to write backdoors and clean up the brand damage from said backdoors). But can we stop trotting out Orwell as our anti-gov't poster boy please? The man was a socialist for Pete's sake...
Seriously. Besides Bernie he's the only candidate on Record who supports Universal Healthcare. He's pro tarrif and anti immigration, but vehemently pro corporate. and pro free trade. I can't tell what the heck he'd do if he was prez.
Hilary is just status quo with some more H1-Bs and we might get a few liberal SCOTUS folks when Tom & Ruth kick the bucket. Now Rubio, that somabictch scares the hell out of me. He's the one candidate I can honestly say wants to grind me bones and make soup. A Rubio presidency would be a nightmare...
Given the House/Senate he had to work with (which was mostly due to Gerrymandering). He calmed Iran down when half our Senators were clamoring for war. He expanded medicare to millions (I've got a buddy with Type 1 Diabetes who owes his life to this) and he snuck a guy into the FCC who allowed net neutrality and open cable boxes.
There's a lot more good stuff he's done. Hilary I'm not so hot on. But I'll take her over Rubio any damn day of the week. She's might be indifferent to me, but Rubio's actively out to get me...
since if they're not motivated by a love of freedom then they'll change their tune the moment somebody makes it worth their while. My take? Apple doesn't want to have to spend millions maintaining expert programmers to write a back door, millions more trying to keep that backdoor out of the hands of blackhat hackers and then millions more repairing the brand damage when one of the backdoors leaks. This is about money, pure and simple. Which is why China gets a pass on e2e encryption.
Apple could choose to not do business in China. It's not like they're hurting for money and they have enough clout in the world to enact real change. I'm not saying I expect that out of them. And I think it's fine and dandy that Apple's interests here just so happen to align with my own. But I'm under no illusions that freedom is even a passing concern for them. Richard Stallman they ain't.
a hell of a lot more concentrated? Imagine if all 253 million of those cars were idling in your city right now. You might, just might, have a problem with it.
Their car analogy was stupid, but don't let that distract you from the enormity of the disaster.
It's colored differently and has an 'ad' flag.... At any rate the "Acceptable Ad" thing just sounds too much like the kind of stuff Yelp is accused of, which sounds like what the Mafioso used to do... I know it's popular to hate on advertisers but I'm kinda with them on this. You know. Nice web site ya got heres. Be a shame if anything happened to it...
They used to. When I used to bother ( before I could just buy digital copies and Steam) it was a constant battle between them and slysoft. Maybe they don't bother anymore.
They're tired of paying middle class wages for code monkeys and the Indians are getting pricy. Plus there's a slim chance American IT will wake up and demand an end to the H1b program. The people pushing this plan for everything. Unlike us IT workers:(
but unless this is line of sight then it's probably throwing light everywhere. I'm not sure my eyes would like that. I'm one of those unlucky bastards that could see monitor flicker below 85hz on the old CRTs and my brother is one of those unluckier bastards that gets headaches from florescent lights...
I don't recall adverts getting that much more annoying in 2015. Is this just more users or did something happen to make folks install more ad blockers (or more likely get an entire new class of user interested in ad blockers)?
You're a human being. You're owed food, shelter and healthcare. Otherwise wtf is the point of civilization? Why shouldn't I just sell your organs on the open market or crack your skull open and feast on the goo? Stop acting like dog eat dog is just how it should be because you got yours (fuck me). We band together as a species to make life better for all of us. You're more vulnerable than you think you are. Wake up before it's too late.
This is bad because it's not punishment. It's something they would have done anyway if they were following the law and it will still make them enormous profit. While I'm not saying we should bankrupt them, they need to be hurt. Hell, if I did what they did (cheated emissions and got caught) I'd be looking a fines many times the cost of fixing my car up to pass.
that's the take away. In other words, being fat doesn't just mean you're a lazy slob. Stuff like this has enormous social implications for the United States, where we kinda have a culture of "blame the victim" in the guise of personal responsibility. Basically more and more things we blame on lose morals we're finding physical causes of. For the rest of the world this might not be such a big deal, but here in the States this might have a huge impact on our politics.
And just adding fuel to the fire. Real terrorist have an agenda. They're trying to accomplish something. Asshat nutcases are either mentally ill or financially desperate.
There's two distinct classes there. You can't do much about the mentally ill except watch out for them and give them what help our science has. For the destitute you can stop oppressing them. We do horrible, horrible things to people in the middle east. We do worse to folks in South America. These people don't hate our freedom, they hate what we've done to them. Isis aren't terrorists. They're a bunch of men with no jobs and no wives. I suspect the shooter in San Bernadino was severely mentally ill.
Given a chance most people will choose honesty if their brain chemistry allows it. That's why the Mob eventually got busted. Rather than rail on against them as criminals start asking why they turned to crime in the first place. Start getting at root causes and the real social distortions that take what started out as a young boy and turn him into a killer ready to throw it all away.
was that he dragged his wife along and she was too beat down to say no. There was just an article here talking about how you could be made to hurt folks when ordered to (the Nazi's came up, and I just godwin'd this thread...)

like the Gigabyte brick with the "Desktop" GPU that just clocks itself down when it gets hot.? Or is this just a laptop without a screen again?
For the ruling class. As a member of the ruling class the only real threat to your never-ending rule is the military. It's just too tempting to cut them out of the loop....
and we can't have that. At least, as far as one side knows...

all of /. and half of fark with my morning intake. I can probably knock out the rest of fark this afternoon if there's something good on TV.

Because I'm really sick and tired of being forced to buy new phones every time I want to switch carriers.
everyone knows the internet proved the earth has 4 dimensions back in the 90s. Study it out.
when I was 13 and I liked it!
