    LOL!

First of all, you can't "win them all", so to speak. Second of all, you pretty much have to rely on consensus.
Here's a couple of sites that can help you make a decision :

    Rotten Tomatoes
    and
    Marquee

"Exactly - would you buy a car without test-driving it? Absolutely not. Expecting people to fork out tens of dollars on something that could very well turn out to be unstomachable crap is asking a lot."

Well, your test drive won't tell you much more than how the car "feels" overall (handling, acceleration, braking) and its looks. The car you actually end up buying could very well be a lemon and the whole line can have reliability problems.

As for "test driving" music, films or books, I sometimes rely on people called "critics". Then I decide if I take the plunge.

Well, my girlfriend is a translator. She translates "Biography" and some fares like that for the Quebec market. For the voice over, no major problems. But for some other voices, you have to fit the text and have it match for the actor's lips. Sometimes, some meaning can change.

BTW, her teacher was the guy who translated/adapted Star Wars : TPM. Jar-Jar lost his stereotypical accent and what he said was actually very funny. But the dialogue for the Darth Vader-to-be kid was atrocious.

  15. I'd suggest a Mont Blanc on When Word Processors Are Out: What's The Best Pen? · · Score: 1

I've used Mont Blanc's pens and fountains pens for about 20 years now.

For me, the most important factors in chosing a writing instrument are its weight and balance. It can change the way you write.

If I use a Bic pen, I write in a slightly modern version of gibberish. With a Mont Blanc, I can actually read back what I wrote.

And please don't buy the biggest one, as another poster suggested. Mont Blanc usually offers three sizes : small, medium and Humvee. These sizes should not be read as price points; they make these different sizes to reflect the variety of the sizes of hands in nature.

I'm French-Canadian and I've read the Tintin comic-books about 10-20 times each since I was a tike. When I re-read these books as an adult, I take great pleasure in them, but I also see their limitations. Adapting them for a modern movie audience as the books *are*, they'll bomb. They will have to be re-written for the most part, and all I can see is that they'll be "Indiana Jones" knock-offs. It does not matter who'll produce/direct/write those films. They'll be anything *but* what Tintin is/was. I would prefer if they simply bought the rights to the Tintin name and write completely new stuff. At least I'd be mildly interested.
