If you are a sub-contractor (10-99) then you could be asked to provide your own equipment.
If you are an employee, everything goes on the expense account.
Many work force people carry 2 cellphones. 1 for personal and 1 for work.
I personally dont need to be contacted because I use Linux and my systems run just fine without me.
One reason a Chief Officer says you need to buy your own its because they buy their own due to the fact no one can justify they use it for work.;p
or is this also the site finder service in question..
when a end user visits http://é.com/ they will get a verisign page. Is this the service in question??

The music industry needs to help musicians promote themselves instead of looking at their bottom line.
The idea that millions of people have their hands on a Compact Disc should be glorious for the musicians. Their music is being spread by word of mouth and for free. It doesn't cost them a thing to get it in the hands of the consumers.
When music really took off in the early 80's and record labels realized they could take advantage of musicians they changed their business plans accordingly.
Currently, in order for a group to be promoted to corporate rock specifications, the label did not break even until the third album release. This is due to methods of marketing, overpriced radio air play, and the rates to get a video on MTV.
When they say they are looking for revenues in cell phone ring-tones and Internet based mp3 stores they are simply avoiding their problem.
Their new business plan is weak They simply need to go back to the way they did it in the 70's.
I personally have been buying vinyl records. They didn't mention a slide or climb in vinyl sales.
If a band is good, they do not need marketing, it will travel by word of mouth. People will buy the CD for memorabilia.
Overpaid executives, talent scouts, and studio producers are creating a fake sense of music with no root culture. Did you know that Matchbox 20 was put together the same way as The Monkees. It shouldnt surprise you. Most bands touring the arenas today are. The neighborhood garage bands just cannot compete with the human resources department aka talent scouts of multi-million dollar enterprises. This is why many people are not buying current releases. IMHO, There is simply no soul in the music.
I am not a lawyer, I am a programmer. That said IMHO, If I was the game manufacturer I would simply hide behind freedom of speech and freedom of press.
It seems that our local governments have forgotten that freedom is the key. The judge should remind them of this and toss it out of court.
If I want to make a product, and there is a market for the product, I should be able to sell it on the market. It should be up to the retailers to decide if they want to put it on the shelf.
The leftist or rightist or whatevers will always be yelling about right and wrong, but thats their opinion and they are allowed to say it.
The product is already listed as an adult game. For end users that are responsible enough to understand the game is fiction.
"kill the Haitians" is simply a line in the plot of a fictional game. If they started a kill the Haitians advertising campaign available to the public eye, thats different.
when "Leisure Suit Larry" was new and a game for adults, it was very difficult for me, a child, to play it. The game would begin by asking quiz questions that only an adult would know the answer to. Sometimes it took me hours to crack the quiz questions to be able to play. That was when programmers placed that extra step.
Buy a throw-away domain name and post an index page with a email address.
you could also use the method where you record the IP address of the spider by generating the email address on the fly. with [IP of spider]@domain.com and then set up a catch all email box.
then you are monitoring the spiders ips and the mail servers ips.
this idea was posted on/. a few months back but I couldnt find the link.
I hate to do this but you guys really seem at a loss here. I have unpublished hosting plans that would be perfect and cheaper than you realize. hit my url and call me. g'luck.
Ask how many internet connections they have and what speed with each one.
Ask how many NIC cards will be in your machine.
Ask what your max Mbps is
(This always gets you put on hold) Ask what the machines bus speed is
Ask if RAM upgrades/HD additions are priced per month or if there is a one time fee.
Ask if they will search your box for illegal materials.
(you be surprised how many said yes) That means you are not the only one with root. so throw them out of the list.
Ask if you get unlimited users accounts. (dell host caps you at 100 pops) thats not full service!
Ask what the minimum billing is for support. some have 30 min some have 1 hr.
Ask if they use a in house linux distribution.
Ask if they offer security bullitens and offer links to patches.
call there tech support before you sign up and tell them you are a customer. (play the dumb blonde) see how they treat you.
Ask your salesman for their cellphone. (that gets some laughs)
Look up the server companies IP block then hit em on ARIN and see if they own a substantial block or if they own one at all!!
Ask if you are your own dns or if you have to use theirs.
Ask if your on a virtual dedicated.
Ask what the levels of discount are per GIG over allocation.
Ask who owns them
Ask about offsite back ups storage., how far away is it?
Ask if you are allowed on their property
Ask the price of additional IPS
Ask if you can tour the facility
Ask if you can ethernet multiple boxes to bypass bandwidth fees.
Ask if you can host adult sites
Ask if your machine has a control panel that support insists you use. (cobalt!!! ahhhh!!!)
ask how long they have had a business license.
and last, ask about the spam policies and what they consider spam and what the fine is per message.
You guys/gals are full of gripes and petty issues like misspellings.
A guy takes an interview with slashdot and gets bombarded, thrashed and becomes the exhausted victim of juvenile banter.

A network can be set up easily for you in this manner:
I will assume that your 150 mac workstations are all connected to hubs located around your building. Those hubs are probably connected to a larger hub closer to your router.
If that is the case, simply ask you pc users to plug in to the closest hub.
The pcs are so deep in the network that they should not get attacked by inbound worms. Your router and firewall should handle that.
As a requirement that you get to set.. force them to install something like Norton AntiVirus/Internet Security. Assign the pc users IP addresses. dont let them automatically assign using DHCP. when they get fussy with you about AntiVirus. simply kill their IP address and tell them when they meet requirements they get turned back on.
But know you will have to add to your routine a few steps.
make sure they have all incoming email getting scanned. Set their computer to only let you be the admin and them the user. Set windows update to automatically install updates. Set Norton to check for updates everyday. Do not let them have the ability to install software unless you do it.
this should put things back into control for a while.
pcs and mac os x actually work fine together as long as the IT guy is a tyrant!
I created our CRM, admin the offsite Linux servers, sysadmin the macs and pcs. Handle the network. troubleshoot anything that gets plugged in to the wall. I make all the clients web sites, admin the databases, and write then CRM's.
I go offsite and set up LANs, do customer support for network and operations. I handle buying and purchasing bids for multiple companies, and do sales when I am needed for consultation at the conference table.
my title is 'tech guy' I have no degree and no certs. only skills and proof of skills. I am over qualified to work for large companies but under qualified at the same time. Its just one of those things, my advice is this:
