    Mandrake has always been a distro that if it works on your system, then it's excellent.

    Some people have lots of problems and can't even install the thing, and for others (like me) it works perfectly

    Here it costs about 4500-5000 bolivares (3-3.5$) and that's really expensive for us, since minimum wage is 100$ a month

    Remember that mozilla is not intended for the end user, but to the power user.

    If you want to use a mozilla-based browser intended for the end user, then use Netscape

    (according to the mozilla website)

    Galeon requires mozilla, period.

    Correct me if i am wrong, but i thought file size != speed.

    Yesterday a friend mailed me a program he made. It was only 20k. But it used 2 megs of ram.

    Phoenix is really nice, but i can't use java on it because it will slow down too much to continue browsing.

    I hope they don't add just features but that they tune down the whole thing. All new apps in linux are getting more bloat now. Even the kernel has become unusable in older systems ( i know, new features require new hardware)

    It won because the chess algoritms on Deep Fritz are a lot better than the ones on Deep Blue

    What use will 200 millon moves per second give if mostly they are wrong or repeated?

    ... is NOT a computer. It's just a software program than can run on your local pc, and if you know where to look, you can get it.

    Deep Blue was a real computer, much more powerful than the 8 cpu Compaq that is running Deep Fritz, although the chess algorithms were less efficient.

    Btw, i don't think computers will conquer the world as much ppl think it. Remember, computers are made by humans. Until computers can think on their own (no, computers don't think, they just execute instructions, they can emulate thinking but it's not really that) human race will always win.

    Now, the end of the world will be probably when the viruses exterminate the human race, but that's another topic...

    The xbos OS (win2k) was supposedly a lean version of win2k so it would run extra fast (didn't need all that support for hardware)

    Does the new mandrake just have support for xbox hardware? Or is it a full blown distro?

    Kinda off topic, but regarding rh 8's great font rendering, a new extension called RandR has been included to XFree's, allowing you to change resolution on the fly (not virtual res) and XFT support/gtk2 support for mozilla is almost ready!

    It's practically the same mozilla code, only that some features are removed, like mail, so the result product is very small, but it still uses XUL, which is the main cause of mozilla slowness.

    I downloaded it to test on my amd 333 64mb laptop, but it is still too slow for me to use.

    However, it's a little more usable in this laptop than mozilla itself.

    I want a fast, small browser with tabs, java, javascript, flash and saving passwords. There isn't any right now, being Opera the closest one. Problems: adware, no password saving.
