    Was the bit torrent client the only file you ever transferred ? The university did not shut you down just because of this one file. I wouldn't be taking a big chance if I guessed that you had music and/or movie files also being transferred on your bit torrent connection at other times. That would be copyright infringement, and that's illegal.

    Its one thing to talk about boycotting EA products. But why FOSS ? Why does that even come into the picture ? Why not talk about supporting other smaller game dev studios ?

    FOSS concept is admirable, but let's not bring it into every unrelated thing.

    You couldn't be more wrong. It is relatively easy to pick up "soft" skills like communcation, buisness speak, marketing, etc during your working life. It is not easy for a business major to start learning data structures and algorithms and java internals.

    If you love computer science / mathematics / problem solving, then go for CS. There will be plenty of time later to round up your skills on the job with business knowledge later.

    Microsoft is likely to agressively start publishing TCO comparisons in various media outlets. Like all statistics, TCO numbers can be fudged too, but most customers will still believe whatever numbers are pushed to them. Open Source folks need to go out there also and start publishing their cost ownership numbers, with real life examples.

    Exactly. Microsoft is just being singled out because they are making all this money. No software program, not even your $FAVORITE_DISTRO, is foolproof. Holding software developers/companies accountable is not feasible nor advisable. Best to let market decide which ones to prosper and which ones to push to oblivion.

    I don't see this happening once law enforcement starts liking the power they have with all this new information. No government organization will willingly give up saved data.
