Lucas is bad at writing and directing. He really struggles to bring any sense of emotion to the characters. Whenever you see emotion it feels like Soap Opera camp.
"Oh, Ani, hold me! Hold me like you did at the lake on Naboo!"
And as someone who lives in the same area, let me just be blunt: he's talking about Chicagoland and http://tripsweb.rtachicago.com./ I sorely hope Google takes care of us someday soon -- and I'm going to throw a note on Carole Brown's blog asking her to consider participating...
I'd concentrate on the benefits they get. Free. Free. Free.
Firefox is probably a good example - hardcore example of something open source and the resulting benefits (it's giving IE a run for its money, extensions and themes available, etc.)
To a lesser point (depending on what open source license is being used), the ability to remix and reuse.
CrazyTalk: Could be worse - you could live in Indiana, a small state which effectively has THREE time zones (Central with DST near Chicago, and Eastern time with or without DST depending on where you are in the state.
Not any more. On Wednesday, April 28, 2005, Indiana's Senate passed a bill to move Indiana to DST, and on Thursday, April 29, 2005, their House passed it. See this Indianapolis Star article.
Whoppie? Wasn't she in that episode with Pikard, or was she part of Curk's crew? And, most improtantly, can Leigh Varr Burton and Gaites Mick Faddin' end up being part of the crew?
This would be a bad idea -- Yoda's screwed-up syntax was a clever dramatic trick in Empire, since he was in the position of Confucian teacher and Irvin Kershner no doubt wanted the audience to unconsciously pay moer attention to him... but it became increasingly hard to follow in Sith:
"A prophecy . . . that misread could have been."
"I hope right you are."
"To question, no time there is."
"At an end your rule is and not short enough it was, I must say."
"Faith in your new apprentice, misplaced may be."
"Hot Wookie love, give me more of." (I'm sorry, that should read: "Good relations with the Wookies, I have." Okay, that one was far too understandable.)
All of these are of course understandable when read, but when you had to individually hear and parse them, usually at the end of a scene, there was no follow-up conversation from other characters that allowed the viewer to subconsciously work out the meaning of what was said.
I can just picture more of the same in a prequel designed to center around him, unfortunately.
Let's not forget the $5 donation to be able to ask questions on MeFi. But I've gotten some of the most intelligent, well thought-out answers I've ever seen while reading, contributing to, and asking questions on Ask MeFi.
It would be a big mistake to assume that the Hong Kong Boy Scouts Association and the Boy Scouts of America are related. Yes, they fall within the same blanket organization of Scouts, but the two really don't have any concrete influence over each others' policies or programs. I know it makes good copy, but it should be underscored this isn't the BSA.
As for the commenter who made the comment about the BSA being gay-friendly, hardly. They fought all the way to the Supreme Court to defend what they felt was their right to exclude gays from leadership positions. (Not that i agree in any way, shape or form with that fight -- in fact, I was aghast.)
Actually, I hate to break it to you, but time travel's already happened for you. You somehow got bumped into an alternate universe. In ours, the leader of the Third Reich was named H-i-t-l-e-r.
Feb 1, 2005: This bill passed in a vote in the Senate. The vote was conducted by Unanimous Consent, so a record of each representative's vote was not kept.
Apr 19, 2005: This bill passed in a vote in the House of Representatives. The vote was conducted by voice vote, so a record of each representative's vote was not kept.
Isn't it always so incredibly convenient that the least popular, most fascist bills are done by unanimous consent or voice vote?
Yeah, see if you can get Slashdot to do a story...

Struck a cord with the common man? Come on, Howard Dean was a joke, and it shows there is a leadership problem at the top of the Dem party.
Oh, yes, Howard Dean is a joke among the common man. That must be why thousands of individuals generated over $106,061.77 in Democratic contributions in just two days in order to endorse his leadership.
Damn. Here you are, trying to prevent people in your office from being laid off, and half the posts (if not more) are idiotic snipings. Sorry you have to wade through them. Just wish I had something concrete to offer you.
But it brings on many changes. Still, you can take or leave it as you please.

Indeed.
Will Buffy be circling Uranus at any point?

After all, information wants to be free!!!!

Cute in a "your mother's best friend in the 1950s" kind of way.
Hey, for 49, she's not that bad.

What's the Best Geek Joke You Know?
Slashdot.
And it would have to be a Constitutional amendment, since the Supreme Court ruled the Line Item Veto Act of 1996 unconstitutional ...
I'm sure the University of California Los Angeles just loves the direct link to a 30 MB file ...

Thanks, my head just imploded. You know how long it's going to take me to clean this up?

RIAA and MPAA jointly going apeshit in 5 ... 4 ... 3 ... 2 ...

Skype has just announced full versions of its software for Mac OS X and for Linux. Now I'm only waiting for some conversations recording feature.
Although I have not tried it yet, I imagine this could be accomplished via the use of something like Audio Hijack Pro or Wiretap.
