Isn't there something to be said that going through the social experiences, good and bad, of high school is important in the development of an adult? Yeah, I'm sure there's a lot to be said, the real question is: what is to be said? I drives me nuts when people tell me that, per education, I need "broaden my horizens" and be "well rounded" BECAUSE that's just stereo-typing me, what my future is, and what my educational needs are. Isn't stereo-typing "you need to go to HS to be an adult" just as bad? Many people didn't get anything from HS but misery and scars. How does make someone a mature adult?
Great, another in depth study to tell us how we're so enviromentally wrong. It says that "The team found that the materials involved in making a 32-MB RAM microchip total 630 times the mass of the final product." I bet everybody would quickly switch to 8MB ram if it only took 200 times the mass. You gotta love this academic+eviroment mix.
Now I can have an expensive player that has too-small-to-push-with-out-searching-for-them buttons and memory to hold all of 3 medium quality CDs worth of music. Jeez, get an iPod.
Ever heard of "reaching out to the target users"? What better place thah./BSD? Too lazy, or maybe trying to tell as many people as possible about a useful new service? Nobody's making you use it, Mr. "Anonymous Coward".
I haven't played chess in a while, but this almost makes me want to get back in it. Frtiz's taunts are so welled timed and placed. It's really funny, whether or not you think it's fair:)

This guy used BrickOS (which is on sourceforge) to build it. Maybe when I get a few extra bucks I'll buy those Lego Mindstorms, they are quite expensive.
He's quoted in the article as saying "We have told our sales force to really understand that this is kind of job one,'' Ballmer, 46, said in an interview last week. "People are saying by and large, 'It might be easier for me to move my Unix apps to Linux than to Windows,' although we're pretty close to making that untrue." Yeah, sure. What does it take to recompile from BSD to Linux? Not too much, depending on how large the app is. Now try to convince me that it'll be that easy under Windows. I can just imagine one of Ballmer's marketoids saying "Sure just recompile everything under Windows! GNOME, MySQL, everything!" Yeah, it's almost easier to port a Unix app to Windows that to Linux.
As I see it...
A. This guy is just advertising on./ when
B. This kind of thing has been done many times before (see other posts). And on top of all of that
C. He's including pirated "extra" software worth thousands of dollars. I know the./ thing is to put up stories without detailed investigation, but c'mon! This is insane!
Yes, this isn't a game specific example. Think how many linux users who aren't zealots. Now think how many M$ users are. I'm sure there are many more case studies of this effect, but this one seems to be the best (IMH but accurate O) !
Or maybe go door to door saying "I've got a treat for you!" and pass out the docs and Debian discs. Oh, and you migh want to try to explain what the docs are (proof that M$ is evil), why you're passing out discs(cause you're a geek), and that the clothes you're wearing are the same ones you usually do (or don't;).

With tcsh enter 'bill gates'. tcsh's helpful spelling corrector will answer 'kill gates?'
