You don't think that some IT people are realising that building a system that doesn't require a new infrastructure is a dumb idea? I mean look how many are currently unemployeed.
It would make a lot of sense for those developing such systems.
I can't really see how it's microsofts fault. Reading about it, it comes in a zip file, the user has to get the zip, extract it and then execute the payload.
Is it just me or is this more like social engineering than a real problem with the system?
Am I the only person who still finds himself humming the tune to pacman on the Apple even though it's been like 12 years since I last played it?:-) Ah, the memories!
Just wondering - but how much would NASA have spent to find this out? I mean It's common to see companies like IBM come up with stuff that is cool like this (like the copper idea a few years back). It seems to me that Intel doesn't actually come up with too many new ideas? (I mean sure there chips become faster but not amazing new things).
I could be wrong. Has Intel done anything this cool? Surely they would spend more money on R&D for processors (I would assume NASA spends more on Space?)
Overnet is not currently integrated with eMule however the developers are working on it. The opcodes are in the source and it should be available in the next few versions somewhere (so I have read).
Get a life. Sure I respect his work and think that what has happened is a shame but that is my honest opinion. Of course I shouldn't have biten at this since you don't even have the decency to log in to make such an unfounded remark.
I think it's a damn shame that this has happened. I for one won't be downloading it.
You must be gutted. I mean I feel bad that this has happened and I have nothing to do with the product so I can only imagine how you must feel.
The screen shots I have seen look great. Keep up the good work and don't let this bother you too much. I look forward to the actual release and hope I have enough money for an upgrade by then:)
I don't think the movie industry is as bad as the music industry. I mean we all know how bad the music industry is but you don't usually hear about actors who still owe heaps even though they have been in 10 movies.
Last time I checked it was pretty uncommon to get like 30,000,000 bucks for a single album yet high paid actors get this quite often.
Just a note before the usual/. yelling and screaming about how bad all the corporates are. Remember that the people trying this sort of stuff are still working out what works. Sure, it might seem over controlling now and make people just use KazaaLite etc instead but eventually we should reach a fairly agreed level of freedom.
It is pretty unfair to think they should give everything away for free however it's also unfair to impliment such strong rules on the end user. Maybe in five to ten years we will have a solid system that (most) people like. [Plus maybe some decent broadband to help online movies become more of a reality:]
Anyone agree?
I would say good on her. Not often the corporates even turn up to things like this even when they say they will. Doesn't mean I like what they are doing but I have a little more respect.
Does anyone else start getting sick of this? The debate is getting so old and the only people saying free music is damaging is some of the artists and the RIAA.
I guess it will end up being like open source vs. closed source - and I bet the artists who embrace allowing online downloads will be more sucessful in the end (of course when I make that comparison I also mean that the artist is signed up with a label because they need some form of money - but yet some artists still support downloading their music for free because they have read the research).
Hope that all makes sense. What do you think?
At such high speeds do you really want to spend heaps in order to go faster? I thought the general feeling was that people aren't finding much need for much faster processors.
Like most/. readers I haven't read the article yet however I have seen these cases advertised and they cost a bomb. Without doing a price check it might almost be cheaper to buy several lower spec pcs if you want the overall power (say for the seti programme or cancer curing stuff).
Just my 0.02c What do you think?
The thing I want to see that has already been invented is cars running on water. It would do so much to save the planet yet it's not being used. From what I heard some guy invented it and a large car company brought it off him years ago. Any more info on this would be nice.
This is old, we had the exhibition here in NZ for a year or so.
:)
It is a good one however - I highly recomend everyone who can see it to go and see it

"immune to the /. effect."

If this isn't a challange I don't know what is

I'm not sure if the Apple2E counts here but...
:-) Ah, the memories!

They make their money by the fact that you get to SKIP the queues if you pay.

"Hey man, don't knock wood."
:D
You so know Intel has held it back because they didn't realise wood was a little bit more flamable than metal
I'm waiting for the next topic on the frontpage -
:D
"Gentoo Developers to recode kernal in whitespace"
All I can say is:
:D
and that's all I really have to say about that

The nice spotted X logo will become all black :D
;))
(at least I am sure how MSFT would update it - change how it looks
I wonder if this will be available outside of India? It sounds like a cool device to have!
I mean I really can't be bothered building a small computer just to integrate into my home tv setup.
Of course the price could end up being more than building your own computer to connect up?
Ignoring the fact I made this (mod it down if that's a problem - I don't mind) I think they missed one of the screen shots of early windows -
:D
A never released version of windows*
*of maybe it was - you decide
