I guess it's bad luck to do these after 12pm? Couldnt we have standardised on an earlier time zone cos they get rather annyoing after a while.. say 7 hours ago BST:(
At least when i worked in retail in the UK, not really, they can send promotional stands and the like and hope the owners use them, but unless their providing the fridge or something they have little control about what goes on!
Cigarette companies actually *buy* shelf space at kiosks and so are very rigid about getting what they want
News Article As upheld by the Office of Fair Trading here and sent to the EU for further review.
In particular:
"We're campaigning for free movement of goods and services in Europe and we'll take on any company, or group of companies, that seek to carve up the market to their benefit." One of the core values of the EU (also movement of people. if you have the right to work in the UK you can work in any member state of the EU and vice versa)
Personally, I wont touch iTunes because of the ugly interface, that fact that it installs IPod Service and sets it on by default (on windows) even if you dont have a desktop and because Apple refuse to obey the rule of free trade within the European Union.
I know ill get flamed for this, but honestly, i realise for some people it works, for me it doesnt.
Theres a vague system at my uni in the UK - on registering for the "dorm" service it seems to check if your windows computer is updated -- ive only registered once for a friend tho on windows so not sure how it works etc!
I didnt say it was discrimination , i was giving a physical example.
Why cant i buy from the french shop where apple pay the RIAA? I can buy french cds in france.
Who are apple to come along and say whats what in the EU?
This has nothing to do with intelectual property. It's like if they had a shop in france and charged english people who came into it 20% more due to their accent.
This isnt the problem, its the fact that when their selling under the EU they have to make it accesible to all members of the EU -- blocking Credit Cards is particuarly naughty and prices should be the same within the EU (from a different comment somewhat and an article they reffered to)
Arent Apple still being sued for not complying with the EU about having the same price throughout EU?
I seem to remember it being cheaper in france or something than UK!

Bullshit, im in my first year of university and i've seen what this kind of parenting does.
The kids get free and they go wild.
Drinking, sex, net, gambling you name it. The more balanced kids tend to be those of us who had trust, broke it, learnt things the hard way, found out for ourselves, survived on fast food whilst on our own long enough to decide how to cook etc.
I'm not sure why I'm not protected by the EU here in regards to their refund policy.
(Im purchasing inside the EU)
essentialy I have a 7 day cool of period on *any* internet purchase except fresh food/flowers. Have used this to extract refunds from retailers before, but not internationally.. still selling into EU cant see it being any different?
Regardless, i didnt buy because of steam.
I have an ingenious plan here.. when they do that we either change the file name, or better yet embed them in pr0n and the like and let them get distracted:)
Its now a £80 fine in the UK for shoplifting/burgarly up to £200 -- cant really see how the same fine wouldnt apply to movies making the total risk much lower.
Really crap law tbh, burglary is now no worse than parking on a yellow line or speeding

I dont disagree with the license fee, but TV Licensing are complete thugs. Try being a student in halls or a single mother.
....but can they tell me next weeks lottery numbers?

And eBay UK will have a (max) £5000 fine to pay the minute they pass on my real name to them. Per offense.
Data Protection Act is nice. Besides, there *are* other auction sites, inevitably one wont help Blizzard

*puts on long coat and goes and stands against a tree in redmond*
Here in the UK your contract is with the seller and not the manufacturer. Its up to them to sort out
