I loved my Karma, I really did. But in the end, the thing was all cheap plastic. On day 29 of my 30 day warranty the entire thing CAVED IN. The jog dial somehow broke inside of it, and the thumbstick control broke to a diagonally down position. I was pretty miffed because the software and Ethernet support was really nice to have.
I returned it, and spent a few extra bucks for a 20GB iPod. Despite the shorter charge time on the iPod, the build quality is INSANELY good. It's practically all metal, still weighs light as heck, and the interface is godlike. Overall, I'd easily rate the iPod a 9/10.. It would be a 10/10 if it supported Ogg. (FLAC isnt an issue, as the iPod has its own lossless format) I'd rate the Karma a 6/10 in the end. It just breaks too easy, and I was CAREFUL with it because I had read of other people having the same problems. It should have been a sign to just not buy it to begin with.
That said, if the next Karma is mostly metal, and VERY STURDY, i'd probably like to buy one.
HD-DVD will be fully endorsed by the DVD Standards Council, as well as looking like todays DVDs and not terrible late 1980s looking cartridge based discs. Scratch proof for a price markup? I could care less, i've never scratched a DVD in my life, nor have I ever had problems with scratched DVDs that i've rented. Its really not an issue, so there is no need to make it look like some mega-old stale technology. Gimme 1080i movies on DVD and i'll be one happy camper.
The OR is multiple choice, dude. You only need to have one of those to stick up. English is pretty easy. There is also the spirit of the law as well, which most judges use common sense for what they're being used for. This case would fit perfectly for what this law was designed for.
If you think thats really detailed, then you obviously haven't used a quality digi cam lately. Thats one blurry picture pasted together from smaller blurry pictures.

Yeah, I know, it would take days for one image to come down, but man.. Compared to the seemingly crappy 0.000005 Megapixel cams they put on those things now.. Could you imagine how awesome those images would be? It would be worth sending a probe there with one of these mounted on it for nothing more than taking a 70MP panaramic shot. Seriously.
It just doesn't sound like something they can legally sell. They're obligated to patch their OS whenever they find out backdoors.. But what if they start to update their anti-virus software before the OS patches? Wouldn't that mean Windows users would be obligated to buy their particular Anti-Virus software? Isn't this entire package a conflict of interest? Perhaps they've been making their software buggy on purpose? I really think the Government needs to start monitoring stuff like this. Code needs to be looked at to see if all of these holes are on purpose and action should be taken if its found it was on purpose. Yes, ive got my tinfoil hat on.

And the business world makes up the majority of PC sales in the world.
They mentioned several times that they want the PSP to be a multifunction device with PDA abilities, and a whole host of other abilities (MP3, Movies, GPS, etc) other than just being a dedicated game machine.

Talk about lame hosts.. These guys dont even play games, they just go on and bash everything left and right. Tonight they bashed an RPG because it had too much text to read. I mean jesus, G4TechTV should at least hire some people who aren't poster boys for A.D.D.
I'm glad they kept X-Play though, great solid reviews, whacky hijinx, and a great looking girl to seal the package. Keep on truckin' Adam!
The problem is, that with this technology, it makes it even easier to port the games to all the various platforms, which means that specific bases (Ie. XBox2) wont be bought by gamers who own PCs (Who have beefy machines to begin with)... Meanwhile, these same PC owners will gladly fork over money for systems that play games their PC cannot, and this is what will keep Sony and even Nintendo ahead of their game.
Microsoft is slowly learning in the console arena, but one lesson they absolutely need to do to make the XBox2 the dominant player is to get as far as possible from being a PC-Like system, as far away as possible from PC game ports, and keep every single game they can get their hands on exclusive for the life of that particular console if possible. Not just 3 months, but years. They also need to court Japanese developers, strike deals with the larger companies such as Square/Enix, get more games from KOEI, pay large sums for ATLUS to translate games specifically for them. They need niche RPG titles out the ass to pull in the anime geeks, they need to do a LOT to win the minds of all the Japanese gamers that ultimately drive more than half this market right now. And if they can get teams specifically for adding in Live! support to these devs games, its a good start.
Considering most RPGs/Strategy on the GBA dont require simultanious button mashing, and more slower thought out moves, this device should be pretty damn useful to some of them. Some of the best RPGs/Strategy games have been on the Gameboy platform (FFT, Advance Wars, Phantasy Star Collection, FF Adventures, etc), and it'll be cool that they're more accessable to some people now. Rock on.
More anti-trust laws. The revune loss from breaking these laws cannot be passed down to the consumer. They are going to go broke eventually if they try this.
120GB drive? That would hold what, about 1/8th of the amount of your average library? My dad, who doesn't even care for DVD movies much has over 200 somehow. And lets be honest, your kid scratching a $10-15 DVD once or twice is no big deal anyways. I think you're just trying to legitimize a way for people to pirate stuff. It's like saying people used Napster for "legitimate and legal" music files. Just because it CAN be, doesn't mean it should be. And in Microsofts case, it's all about making money, not providing methods for people to steal money.
First, it does play GBA games. If you would have read the article they mention this. Second, it was designed to play entirely different types of games with bluetooth multiplayer in mind. Something two screens is not a gimmick for. Third, Nintendo is not giving Sony any prime spots to take their market share - Sony has said many times before that the PSP is not going to compete in their market, they're going multimedia with the PSP.. PDA, Movies, MP3s etc.. People who strictly want to play games will stick with Gameboys. But guess what, instead on OMG confusion OMG, you have CHOICES.
PSP is being solds as a portable media player that can play games. DS is being billed as a unique two screened strictly games machine. Neither will play the same type of games.
There will be no 'crushing' because they are not in competition. Sony says they wont compete with the Gameboy line, Nintendo says they wont compete with the portable media player (PSP) line. They're all good.
I can't count how many times his sense of humor has crossed the line into absurdly Pythonishique territory. It would be a real shame to lose this guy because not only is he funny as hell, his reviews are some of the most trusted i've ever seen. Nearly every game he's reviewed has been dead on with my thoughts. Morgan on the other hand is pretty monotone, and her reviews are not nearly as engaging as Adams. And she has zero humor. We all know what she does have though, and I think we can all agree she needs to pay up for us clicking those links over and over to get her naked in Playboy.
The Gameboy DS will not compete, upgrade, or compliment the current or future Gameboy line. Anyone with any sort of idea of the current gaming industry already knows this. Nintendo has said over and over that the DS will be its own unique niche market that will not compete with other handhelds simply because it will not work like others. It will offer two screens that will provide a very unique gaming experience that simply isn't possible on a single screen system, and wasn't meant to be. Wired as usual, is entirely clueless of the gaming world and this article only proves it once again.
Also, Sony is gearing the PSP as a multifunctional handheld for many things other than games. Think movies, GPS, MP3 playing, PDA, etc.. They have stated that they wont be in competition with Nintendo whatsoever with the PSP. Once again, Wired is spewing misinformation. How this made a news story is beyond me simply because its entirely full of factual errors and presumptions.
Enterprise, while lacking, still blew away Andromeda with its entourage of effeminate aliens. And MutantX? Seriously, who even watched an entire episode?
