Good thing microsoft is a small company and couldn't possibly afford to hire some sort of third-party consultant to read the reactos source code and compare it to the windows source code.
Not to mention, it seems to be pretty normal in theoretical physics for theories to be devised long before they can be experimentally proven. Many predictions that Einstein made in General Relativity were not demonstrated until much, muchlater.
If you need more proof, Java is now the preferred language for Boeing when doing mission critical and real time software.
Clearly they've never read an EULA from Microsoft:
Certain SOFTWARE PRODUCT(S) may contain support for programs written in Java. Java technology is not fault tolerant and is not designed, manufactured, or intended for use or resale as on-line control equipment in hazardous environments requiring fail-safe performance, such as in the operation of nuclear facilities, aircraft navigation or communication systems, air traffic control, direct life support machines, or weapons systems, in which the failure of Java technology could lead directly to death, personal injury, or severe physical or environmental damage.
Sequel products are rarely considered very innovative.
So, ignoring "sequel" products, what has Apple released? The personal computer, the ipod, the one-button mouse, and the compatibility-challenged UNIX. Is that really so impressive?
The real irony here is that Steve Jobs is calling Garbage Collection "slow" despite the fact that Apple sells a micro-kernel based OS. I know that microkernel-based OSes can be shown to be just as fast as monolithic kernels, but that takes a LOT of work to achieve (more than just kludging BSD onto Mach).
Most well-designed programming languages allow code that can be optimized to reduce the amount of garbage generated. For the things where speed really matters, it can sometimes be possible to prevent the generation of any garbage.
This isn't meant to be a troll on how slow OS X is. My point is that the advantages/disadvantages of using GC parallel those of using a microkernel. It seems silly that Steve Jobs would endorse one and not the other.
Actually, if you don't want to shell out for the caffeinated water, just brew coffee with coffee (instead of water). It makes one hell of a potent brew.
Recently it was reported on Slashdot that drinking even one cup of coffee was linked to some kind of adverse health issue.
I believe you're thinking of this article. Which specifically stated that decaffeinated coffee is unhealthy, not the caffeinated kind.
Finally, there are those people who consider themselves well learned and so propose that its the caffine in coffee that is beneficial, so drinking a couple cups of cola should also be beneficial, or popping a couple of caffine pills or those high-caf beverages.
Well, the original study that this article is based on did show that the association was with caffeine, not just coffee.
Cars produced by apple all have 2 engines, one big one kludged onto a smaller one. Apple's cars have many of the features of a linux vehicle, but you wouldn't know, because everything is hidden under a dashboard that can only be removed with excessive force. The only thing that drivers are granted access to is a steering wheel, which is located in the upper left corner of the car. Because there are no pedals, all apple vehicles drive at the same speed all the time. Apple drivers insist that the speed is "fast" because there are two engines, but many windows and linux drivers debate this.
Despite the absurd usability problems that are created by having only one poorly-placed steering wheel, many Apple users insist that their cars are "more user-friendly". They also insist that they are "thinking differently", despite the fact that all of their cars look exactly the same.
Yes, many people who purchase iPods do so because they know that it will only cost them $9900 to fill that ipod with 10,000 songs. If the price goes up even 20 cents a song, ipod owners will suddenly be out an extra $2000!
Actually, if you read that article, it clearly states that Orin Hatch advocates destroying the computers owned by people who download music. Sony, as it turns out, is only interested in destroying the computers of people who buy music.

"My friend Steve did it."
"He doesn't sound like a very good friend."
"Well, it wasn't actually Steve, but he really looked like Steve, except for the moustache."
"Oh, so you let a total stranger install the bomb?"
"It was a very convincing moustache."

No, congress is easily bought. That's why disney has perpetual copyright.
Sun Microsystems, Inc. has contractually obligated Microsoft to make this disclaimer.
Not to mention, all of those p2p files encoded in lossy formats, like ogg and FLAC.

Technically, a computer that can't answer those questions would score higher on a Turing test.
Coincidentally, they were both invented by Xerox.

That's pretty slow. Even by Commodore standards.
Lets slashdot the coral cache, just to be safe!
This isn't about civil liberties at all. Marquette is a private institution and has every right to enforce these policies.
Using big words like "leverage" allows one to leverage their $40,000 degree in Journalism.

For some reason, I read that as "Always enrage the user", which is also useful advice.

Let me guess... They then let everyone except for you go home while you had to spend the next 10 weeks listening to evidence.

From what I understand, it had a great package management system.

For a real treat, fry the bread in bacon grease.

That's pretty dumb, since we're at least 17 years away from successfully building anti-gravity machines.
