I figured for that question that if it there was a legit problem with my earthlink account, they would provide both a web form AND a phone number I could call to fix the problem since the result of not fixing the billing info was a suspended account. Since there was no phone number, and because they were wishy-washy about why there was a billing problem, I thought it was phoney. (I've never had an Earthlink account, so I don't know how they really handle these kinds of problems with customers.)
I wasn't talking about your huge bordering-on-for-profit-non-for-profit-corporation s. I'm talking about your local battered women's safehouse. I'm talking about your local pet rescue. I'm talking about your community-based teen runaway shelter. These places don't have millions of dollars to spend on computers and equipment. They're lucky if they can afford to pay the rent for their buildings.
"Writing free software doesn't help people improve their lives. It helps big corporations turn a profit. How does having free software help any one live a happier life? There is very little that some one needs a computer for outside of working. So, in effect, what you are doing is working for free so that other people can use your software to make some money for themselves."
So the only people using free software are big corporations? Ever heard of non-profit organizations? You know, the ones that exist to help people and communities? The less they have to spend on their IT and technology, the more money they have to spend on helping people. Helping people live a happier life.
Thanks for posting that link. I recently bought Metroid Prime for my gamecube and was very discouraged when I could only play for 20 minutes before becoming so nauseated I'd have to turn it off and lie down. That's just playing a FPS on my little 27" tv...I can't imagine trying it on a movie screen. Disaster waiting to happen!
. My jaw was on the ground for the 7 hrs I played it today
I had been waiting forever for this game to come out. Took my lunch break to drive up to Software ETC at the mall to go buy it (and Metroid Fusion) the day they were released. Went home to play, and found out I don't have the stomach for FPS! I can only play for 20 minutes at a time before I get horribly nauseous because of the first person perspective. I love the game, but it's going to take me forever to finish it at this rate.:-(
PLUS, for video stores, once they buy a video and they rent it enough to cover the cost of the original purchase price, everytime the video is rented after that it's pure profit for the company. Won't they have to keep buying new licenses or copies for each one of these discs they "rent" out?
If you look at the list of PDAs on the Best Buy site, doesn't the thumbnail of the Zire look really ugly compared to the rest of them? I probably would be less inclined to buy that PDA based soley on that picture...
12000 hours of recording time is more than unnecessary; it's almost offensive. Most people reading this site probably haven't spent that much time outdoors in the last year. It's revolting.
I'm pretty sure that you didn't spend 500 days outside last year either. . .
Some people will make the arguement that linguistics states rather plainly that a native speaker cannot ever speak a language incorrectly, and this is true.
These people fail to take into account George W. Bush.
Also, you most public libraries will loan you music CDs for free.
On the otherhand, software has NEVER been broadcast over public airwaves or freely distributed in your public library. Nor are there stores that will rent you software and then the media to use to copy it.
Not true. Back in the late 80's, our public library had lots of software available for loan. And it wasn't crappy software either. Their collections included a wide assortment of Infocom text adventure games, which were really hard to find at the time because they were no longer being sold in stores. I used to check-out my limit of 4 every week. I miss those days...
Well, we don't just LEAVE them outside - they can come and go as they please in the garage which has a loft they can sleep on if they want to get off the ground and out of harms way. We keep them in there at night to prevent them from being snacks for nocturnal animals.
Do you live in a rural area? Having barn animals is just a way of life out here.
We have a house in the woods that's almost exactly as you described. We have a little lawn, but most of the property is woods. Yeah, we don't have as much to mow, but that environment is a love-nest for mice, chipmunks and other various "get-in-your-house-and-run-around-creating-abnoxio us-noises-at-night" type critter, We had to get outdoor cats to keep the mice population from exploding. However, the woods also make a nice home for foxes, so we need to get new cats every summer to make up for the ones that get eaten.
Out of the 3000 jobs I have applied for in the last 4 years, maybe 4, I wasn't considred for for lack of degree. It doesn't help get a job or get more money if you have the skills.
Why weren't you considered for the other 2996 jobs?
Why was this modded +5 funny? And you wonder why we don't want to work with you guys...
They don't look like they are pumped full of silicon? Have you seen a real breast before?
http://games.yahoo.com/ Look under "Board and Tile Games"
Actually the purpose it serves to make money for EA. A consumer's temporary entertainment seems to be a by-product lately...
I've been very unfulfilled by my jobs in the IT industry and I'm getting out to pursue a career in medicine.
Who modded this interesting? The thought that only male property owners should have the right to vote is not interesting and is not democracy.

Except that it's hard to feel my phone vibrating when it's in my purse...

I wonder how many times a question has to be asked before it'd end up in their FAQ...
You have been selected to represent the school at the national grammar rodeo at the Sheraton Hotel in Canada.

LOL!!! This needs to get modded up!

Well, the banners may be off, but I'm still receieving spam mail in my inbox. . .can't these guys ever take a day off?
Maybe they need to make the voting machine's interface look like video poker - help the older folks over their confusion...
