For OS X Tiger users, I think for this article Slashdot should display the "Nothing to see here, move along" text.

And on a more serious note... uh... see above. Tiger has all of this. It works. TODAY. Will be ready for the world next year, not in 200x.

I am afraid they are smarter than that. The legal team part of the RIAA, anyway. Attorneys have a slang phrase they call "Bloodwork". Getting the blookwork on your own client, or someone you are hired to sue, means using all of your connections to get all the info you can on that person, and put it all in one folder. Credit Report, Life History, Goodgle Results, the Private Investigators/Cops/Government Officials who are "friends" of the Law Firm and do behind the scenes checks... all this is part of Bloodwork than any top 100 firm in this country does on EVERY CLIENT and EVERY PERSON THEY ARE UP AGAINST. I would bet my iPod that the RIAA have come accross many people who where sharing songs who were Attorney's, Heart Surgeons, Feds, very wealthy, etc, and skipped right over them.

Gaim is only in version 0.81. Wait till it hits 1.0 before telling people to use it.

Here, I would think that the usual case, where an active open source program at 0.x is better than a commercial product at 6.x, holds true. Gaim v0.81 has over 250+ bug fixes, a few big, many small, and that product is VERY stable and logs into everything. I know 20+ people all on various ports of Gaim and no complaints. Prior to 0.6, it's been a bit hellish, but 0.7+ has been simply sweet. Remember you can install new versions of Gaim on top of old ones, and you won't loose your settings. Also, Gaim can run along the "real" IM programs, so if you don't like Gaim it's a 30 second uninstall. THe benefits are worth the "risk" of trying it out.
