Any chance of Capship/large cargo ship support being added in future versions of the Privateer mod? When the game first came out I'd been given the mistaken impression it was going to allow me to have a freighter and then buy dozens of fighters for defense kinda like Trade Wars only in Pseudo 3d... it ended up making it up for me in gameplay and plot, but I'd always hoped for a Wing Commander game to come along and allow that (Armada got close, but you couldn't do enough with your Capship :x)

Have you considered running a PCI card as your secondary screen? You don't seem to be planning to run two 3d apps simultaneously and at least with nVidia's shit dual card works slick under linux (haven't had a winbox I felt like trying it on in quite a while), multi-resolution, although if you set it up using Xinerama 3d only works on the primary screen, secondary I believe handles Xv extensions just fine however. Funnier part is I get better framerates on the nvidia GeForceFX 5200 than I do on my AGP Radeon 9100 under linux :) Anyhow it's just a though, PCI cards are pretty damn nice if you need a secondary screen and 3d performance isn't a priority.

Just FYI it was mentioned by someone in a slashdot article years ago but there was some motor in an audi or a saab or something that was in two different models of car by two different car companies (same engine, diff cars) which had like a 20-50 hp difference that was entirely ECU tuned.

So what you're saying *DOES* happen, even in the automobile world.

Full speed that's about right, try clock limiting it to 1ghz or 600 mhz (whatever the lowest clock rate is). That's how you get the impressive battery time. I can get 3 hours straight up under full utilization with a 14.1" screen and 1.5 ghz P-M underclocked. If you run it full speed it's no better than any other cpu for battery utlization. My now dead iBook G4 was the same, about 2 hours at 800 mhz with a 12.1 screen, and about 3.5 underclocked. (obviously a bit better power usage at lower speed than the P-M).

CPUFREQ works fine on 2.6 series kernels, I've got a GQ Branded Centrino laptop running that gets around 2-3 hours of battery time with the screen on, and it's shown about 4:30 on a full battery if I close the lid (for comparison, the iBook I've got (currently DEAD) could get 4 hours clocked to 600 mhz (800mhz g4) with a 12.1" screen, compared to my centrino running 600mhz with a 14.1" screen... full speed the iBook got around 2 to 3, whereas the Centrino will get about an hour and a half at 1.5ghz, with about 15-20 minutes per 200 mhz stepping (600/800/1000/1200/1400/1500). Still not the amazing battery time I'd like, but it beats my P4 2.6ghz laptop with the 45 minute full charge full speed, and hour and a half idle time :)
