  1. The CDs are NOT SPAM on One Million AOL discs to be returned to AOL · · Score: 1
To me they are more like junk mail. They are a legitimate form of advertising and I don't like the attitude the guys have going out of their way to waste AOLs resources.

I am a freelance web developer for small businesses. I have had several clients promise me significant amounts of work, but when it comes to a first "official" meeting they consistently "need to reschedule" for a variety of reasons. I consider myself reasonably flexible (especially when chasing big clients) but when they do this on a regular basis, it wastes my time that could be much better spent on legitimate clients. Anyway the point of this is that they are just trying to make a buck, so don't go out of your way to stop them for no good reason.

Until 3G becomes a reality here (I'm in the great Southern land of Australia) I don't want to be downloading images on my mobile phone.

High WAP charges, already slow download speeds (9.6k IIRC), and the Nokia featured in the story is by far the largest display on a mobile currently available here (most others are considerably smaller though PDAs will benefit), mean this wont be useful for me in the near future.

Either way this wont change my life in any meaningful way except my paycheck will be needed to send up a few more space shuttles.

As much as I respect google, I for one am not happy to hear the news (no pun intended). In my opinion google has built an indredible userbase by supplying the top quality search service with a simple UI, and stood out because it was not a portal wanna be.

I am worried that google will loose focus on the primary reason that people go there, and the search service will suffer because of it. Fair enough that the service will be usefull, but when you're on top you need to work twice as hard on your primary product to stay there.
