I haven't seen it, but being made by Disney Or WB means it probably sucked. :)

I really would like to see Jackson make The Hobbit. I just don't one to see bad games one after the other come out and drive the video game franchise into the ground.

I don't agree. While I don't like the idea that Peter Jackson may not make The Hobbit, I still want the Tolkien family to allow talented people who actually give a shit about the story to make games, and not anyone who has deep pockets.

You know how a lot of people feel disgusted at the Pokemon franchise. I wouldn't want LOTR to suffer the same fate.

Am I the only way to think that EA is looking like it's going to milk the LOTR cow too much, driving the video game franchise into the ground? There's bound to be a sucky LOTR game soon. (if there wasn't one already, I haven't played any so far) They can't be all good. Already FOTR was a crappy game (not developed by EA though). TTT and ROTK are supposed to be good. I played the War of the Ring demo and wasn't impressed a lot, it look exactly like Warcraft in MiddleEarth (did they license the engine or what???).

When MMORPG based on the LORD of the rings story will come out, that's when we'll know that the Tolkien family will have totally sold out.

I understand. Personnally, I buy all my movies (over 40 DVDs and still buying) and make a point never downloading a movie, well, except when it's not available in my country (Ringu 0 and Ringu 2 for example). as for TV shows, Kazaa and Bittorent have enabled me to catch up with TV shows I didn't watch during their first season like Alias, The Sopranos and 24, which I now watch each week on TV, as opposed to downloading them each week, and thanks to them the broadcasters can now make money off me with their ads.

  15. One another card scam on Fake ATM Fraud Expose · · Score: 1

The bank card scam that is really popular these days in Quebec is replacing the machines where you swipe your bank card or credit card at the counter. The machine records the number on your card and the PIN you enter, then plays the modem sound to make you believe that it called to your bank and accepts the transaction, even though you might have entered the wrong PIN number.

A lot of gas stations have been found guilty of using such devices, though it was often done in less fortuned areas and organized crime was always involved. I think I read somewhere that the "roumanian mafia" (WTF? italian, ok, russian, meh, but roumanian?) was behind the scam. It's been around for a year now in different part of the province.

I never heard about ATM scams so far though.

  17. Re:A couple of things on California Anti-Videogame Bill Author Interviewed · · Score: 1

I think that the violence depicted in games like Mortal Kombat, Soldier of Fortune or Doom3 doesn't need a context to be judged offensive. As far as I'm concerned, if a game where you hit people or monsters contains blood, you can say that the game is violent WITHOUT context and should be rated appropriately.

Don't forget that they don't rate a movie based on an average amount of violence in it, but based on the worst scene or highest scoring scene in different categories like violence, sex and explicit lyrics.

Having a cartoon with cute bears running in the forest chasing butterflies without hurting them for 2 hours would still get an R rating if one 20 second scene contained a hunter using a Uzi to beat the crap out of a bear, blood included.

  18. Why not FAT32? on Microsoft to Charge for FAT File System · · Score: 1

I mean, the article states that they're licensing FAT16, not FAT32. Wasn't FAT16 limited to 2 gigs partitions? FAT may be fine for current consumer flash cards under 2Gigs, but since 1 gigs cards are already out, it's a matter of time before 2 gigs come out, and then 4. Licensing FAT16 seems like a dumb idea to me. FAT32 is better in the long run.

Unless, , they want companies to license FAT16, then go "Oh f***" and license FAT32 when 4 gig flash cards come out.
