  1. Re:Great interview! on Egyptian Linux Advocates' Replies · · Score: 1

"Displacement of Arabs was caused by wars against Israel initiated by neighboring Arab countries"

You say that as it if justified it. Palestinian civilians have nothing to do with Syria or Egypt's wars with Israel. They are people who were living their daily lives there, and all of a sudden they're told they have to leave because they're Arabs. Goodbye, family house, goodbye, natal village. This is followed by mass-spread of settlers the Israeli government gives free houses to so that at some point in the future (like, say, now) they can say "oh, we can't allow those Palestinians back now, our people are already there. Our 7500 settlers are more important than 1.3 million Palestinians in Gaza!"

If for some unforeseen reason you have a sudden urge to play an old Gameboy game you have, either play it on your Gameboy (ie, don't sell it for that measily 20$ credit EB will give you for it), or download the ROM and play it on an emulator (legal if you own the game). There are GBA emulators for PC (obviously), DC, and Xbox.

No seriously what's with this backwards-compatibility-is-so-important attitude? It's been going on ever since the PS2.

The ACLU defends the parts of the constitution that no one else is defending.

The right to bear arms has a lot of republican money backing it. It doesn't need the ACLU. Privacy rights, freedom of speech, and equality rights are not backed by big money, hence the ACLU focusing on those.

Ignoring the fact that unlike freedom of speech, the right to bear arms does not translate well to modern situations, it would be redundant for the ACLU to protect the 2nd amendment.

"You have to wonder if there's any way to go after the district managers and/or corporate for knowingly demanding certain performance levels that could not be reasonably achieved with the number of "billable hours" allowed."

Heh. Happened to me when I worked at Couche-Tard, a 7/11 chain here in Quebec.

Basically, they do 6-hour shifts. However, you actually spent about 8 hours working every day.

The trick was that you needed to count all the lottery tickets/games and all the cigarette packs and cartons at the counter and in stock, before, and after your shift, and write a report, so that they can track errors better. Every employee had to do it, so basically 2 persons counted everytime (the person leaving, and the person taking his/her place).

Translation: if my shift starts at noon, I have to be there at 11:30am to start counting the stuff. When I spoke to the manager about this, he said I should be able to count them in 5 minutes, which is BS because even the 4-year veteran took 20 minutes to count them.

And if shift was supposed to end at 6:00pm, I stayed until 7:15pm because on top of doing the end-shift counting, I also had to count the money (how many pieces of 1c, 5c, 10c, etc etc) and write a report, as well as sweep the floors with a broom. When I spoke to the manager about this, he said that there's no reason for me to stay overtime, that I should be able to do all this when there aren't any customers. Right. No customers in a popular 7/11 between 4pm to 6pm when everyone is coming back from work. He was full of shit.

What? We're not in the 90's anymore. The importance of the markets (in terms of size) goes in this order: North America, Europe, and THEN Japan.

I remember when you'd be hard-pressed to find a good western console game. Now look at any "top ten rated games" chart for this generation, and 9 out of 10 are western. Tony Hawk, Halo, Splinter Cell, Prince of Persia, Metroid Prime, Project Gotham 2, etc etc ad nauseum, it's all western-developed games. Japan seems to have shot its load and passed out in fatigue after releasing Final Fantasy X and Metal Gear Solid 2 in 2001. I can't name a single AAA-status game they've released since then.

I think Japan stopped counting long ago.

Not saying the Palestinians are innocent victims, but the Israelis are the ones with the power to stop this and they have yet to stop fueling the fire. This "security fence" BS is just an excuse to keep doing what they've been doing since Sharon came to power: steal as much as possible.

Huh? Did you even SEE a GC game sales chart?

The GC is doing average in Japan, but horrible in Europe and North America. Their top titles' sales are merely a shadow of their former selves, and the poor sales of 3rd party games (ie non-Nintendo games) made several publishers stop making games for it (which is understandable, considering that the majority of GC software sales come from parents buying games for their kids, and that customerbase typically ignores the more teen/mature-minded 3rd party games).

The actual poll results were that 75% of palestinians saw the Haifa restaurant attack as justifiable revenge for the attacks they endured. It sounds the same but there's a HUGE difference. This is a perfect example of how word spin can affect the angle at which something is viewed, and why americans exposed to their biased media automatically assume the Israelis are the good guys (as if there were any good guys in this bullshit).

Btw, 85% of the same people polled want a mutual ceasefire and an end to the violence. But I guess anything that puts the pals in a good light isn't something you'd be interested in sigging.
