There is so many things wrong with that post it is not funny. The only 'greenlight' valve has is to prosecute you for copyright infringement, or possibly ban you from their network. All that other vigilante shit is still illegal. Also, the EULA has bugger all binding on the developer anyways, 99% of the time they are explicitly to take rights away from the consumer, not to say that the dev is gonna play nice and not nuke your computer. In any case, you are not 'violating' the EULA because the pirate version probably does not make you click an 'accept' button anyway!

Just a point about Nokia: they aren't in the same business. They may have been absolutely slaughtered by nintendo in the 'handheld gaming' business, but they made a tidy profit on their product as new model of phone. I'd say they'll just continue to release evolutionary hardware that capitalises on the niche of people wanting a phone that they can play good games on.

  12. Interesting Idea on Microsoft to Release Three Versions of Xbox 2 · · Score: 1

This is an interesting idea on microsoft's part, i'm guessing that they see the margins apple are making on their systems and want a slice of that sweet, sweet pie. From their position i'm guessing all they can see are positives, including that they will be able to completely control the software and hardware to completely illiminate piracy on any (internet connected) system, and they get the xbox2 software catalogue available on it without trying, as long as they don't stuff it up and tell the devs they can target any of the systems rather than just the lowest common denominator. Also a plus for them is being able to force updates to software to stop people hanging back on "less secure" programs that have less restrictions, ie media player 8 vs media player 9, so they can start really pushing rights restricted media. All this and they get to sell it as a cheap games system AND word processor/browser, I think they'll get a few bites.

Probably shouldn't bother rebutting, since you kinda agreed with me but: I have never made a page that was more than 5k bigger in tables than the other guy I work with can do it in css(discluding stylesheets, since they cache) Whether I'm in php or asp, the entire layout is in header.asp and footer.asp which are included into every file, with a bunch of text with the least amount of markup possible in the middle. This makes it pretty trivial to do site-wide layout changes.

  14. Re:WYSIWYG web design on What OSS Programs are Still Needed? · · Score: 1, Interesting

I suppose my language was a little strong there, however still feel it's correct; Which is easier, dropping '15px' in code, refreshing a browser to see how it looks, or dragging the side of a table (or div if you will) out a bit to get the right sizing. I've heavily invested time in doing it both ways and doing it in code just makes it harder.
