What I don't understand is WHY OH WHY there are not time-tables put in place for these "promises." If the govn't had just said "ok, and you'll have x done by y or you'll be charged z" 1996 probably would have turned out a bit different.

Right, because the Dune series never made any mention of religion...
Scintillating plastics have been around for quite a while...I'm wondering why only now someone has developed this...maybe an issue of cost or maybe some strength problems?
I'm not huge into OGG files simply because of momentum (it would take me a really long time to re-rip all of my CDs and OGG them). But I would really like to see OGG support just for the fact that it would make a great product even better. I
That's funny because the bottom of the page says something very different:
On December 31, 1996, AT&T Global Information Solutions (which was originally known as NCR) was spun off from AT&T into an independent company known as NCR Corp. For information about NCR's products and services, visit the NCR website.
Having just purchased an iRiver mp3 cd player (due to the fact that I have a large number of mp3 cds for bringing to work) I don't think I'll be switching to OGG anytime soon. Now maybe, someday iRiver will have a firmware update to support OGG but until then, it's mp3 all the way.
I hate these stretches when he gets going like this
Silly me, I thought it was one long stretch...
I know who wrote Dune. As has already been pointed out, my response was to the first comment: the lack of religion in SF.

And the cultures that they erased had also erased cultures when they moved in. It's not something new.

What about the millions this school is going to have to pay for bandwidth after this slashdotting? :)
I've loved my iRiver since I've purchased it.

The Mozilla 1.3 branch has been closed in prep. for release. There's a mention of it on Mozillazine as well.

Ah, see, that's why I should get rid of this Jump To Conclusions matt...I do that too often.
You should probably rent "Office Space" to understand the quote.

The judge handed down a $18K judgement and they settle for $1000???
Sorry but someone must have inked "moron" on their foreheads...
They are not (and probably never will be) available in the US. In England they're all over and they make perfect sense.
The British car magazine "Car" imported one to the US and drove it across the country. They spent $80 on gas going from NY to LA.
Maybe you've not seen a Fosters commerial, but that's what I was making fun of...
I bet a lot of domain name speculators/squatters are feeling good about their .NET-related purchases now...

Hardware support seems to be a big issue for OGG.
Give them a gift that keeps on giving. Donate money in their name to EFF!
Well thank goodness you didn't have a Schrodinger lunchbox. Cat every day for lunch? ewww!
On the other hand there's little knowledge of who Einstein really was and the human being behind the genius

You mean, aside from all the biographys written about him, the published letters to his children, the secret FBI file kept about him, etc etc.
BN returns rather a lot on the man, and a number of these items are not lunchboxes.

MS Bookshelf 2.0 is a nice upgrade but it only holds Visual Basic manuals and pictures of Billy-boy
