You really should scope out hula.
Very smooth and getting better fast. Lots of cool things happening around it. LDAP backend coming soon. Based on Novell's NetMail.
Enjoy.
I have no relation to this project but it has made checking those 3 or 4 hotmail accounts that are 7 years old (and that you can't drop) a breeze. There is only ONE way to access your hotmail accounts...
http://hotwayd.sourceforge.net/news.php
From the site:
"Ever wanted to access your hotmail.com, msn.com, lycos.co.uk, lycos.it, lycos.nl, lycos.es, lycos.ch, lycos.de, lycos.at and spray.se emails using Linux, *nix (or even Windows [using cygwin]) without having to battle with the web interface?
It is now possible using hotwayd in conjunction with your favourite POP3/SMTP implementing mail reader (and soon [read: not so soon] also possible using IMAP4). Hotwayd allows you to do this by using the HTTPMail protocol, the same protocol that Outlook[tm]/OE uses, to access the hotmail or MSN servers."
You just setup one server on a public IP and let all your friends and family know about it.

We've also discussed this issue with colleagues at our fellow search engines and would like to thank MSN Search and Yahoo! for supporting this initiative. Here are a few guidelines for anyone else who wants to join the cause.
MSN - I'll let you figure out what the "M" stands for.
Vonage is also known to use port 5061 instead of 5060 like most SIP servers. That is an easy way to distinguish between the two different VSPs (Voice Service Providers - I think I just made that up;).
Also, with all this talk about freedom, why don't they allow you (without jumping through hoops) to connect a SIP phone of your choice (READ Asterisk)?
We run a college LUG web site ( here ) and noticed that both Google and MSN had bots that appeared to be "stuck" in the calender (iCal) section of our site. We added entries to our robots.txt to keep them out of there. That cut down on server traffic almost instantly and what appeared to be regular crawling resumed.
If both Google and MSN did it, it makes me wonder if this guy is a little trigger happy with his predictions. We didn't really even have any content in the calender area so I can't figure out why they would keep crawling all these empty pages.
This is exactly what the employee told the customer, word for word...
"This lets you keep the rental for a couple of days extra, just to allow you extra time."
My wife and I picked out a "new release" on a Saturday night. We were asked if we had any questions about the new "no late fees" deal. I said, "No, I'm not that interested." I figured that it was a subscription that you signed up for and that wouldn't be anything I was interested in.
The next day when I called to see when the if the video was due at midnight or the next day, the guy on the phone was like, "You don't get it, there are no more late fees." My wife couldn't believe that policy was extended to everyone so she asked, "What keeps me from not ever returning it?" He replied, "Just being a good citizen."
We were floored with such a customer oriented approach. It didn't seem right, but thats what he told us. Now it all makes sense.
I live in Provo Utah (beneath the shadow of the Novell Mother ship).
Just yesterday I was talking to this guy about some problems he was having with his Windows mail server. I suggested he try a Linux solution running Postfix or something. He wanted to seem like he was all cool and stuff when he said, "Yeah, we tried to run Sushi. Have you heard of if? It's Linux." I said, "What is that? Raw penguin or something?
Anyway, he had no idea what Linux really was. He had heard of it but was shocked to learn that Novell had acquired SUSE.
While the web page doesn't show it (http://torrent.dulug.duke.edu/), the torrent is ready. Now jump on so I can get faster downloads;) http://torrent.dulug.duke.edu/tettnang-binary-i386 -iso.torrent
Newbs read below...
Just cd to the directory that you want the download to start in. Make sure you have at least 2.2 Gigs free on that partition, and run the command below. It will be slowish at first but it will pick up with time. The --max_upload_rate is the maximum kB/s you will upload to others. Use it if your connection is bit sensitive. If you couldn't care less, leave it off and help the rest of the world out.
Get bittorrent here: http://bitconjurer.org/BitTorrent/download. html Or for RH / Fedora users: http://torrent.dulug.duke.edu/btrpms/
Command for FC2 bittorrent: [user@system dir]$btdownloadcurses.py --url http://torrent.dulug.duke.edu/tettnang-binary-i386 -iso.torrent
That might save the newbie a google or two.
P.S. The above was just cut from an email I sent to a local LUG.
They love getting kids hooked on porn. You were right; It's not any different then cigarette companies looking to the youth for their next billion and profits into the next few decades. It's wrong and seeks gain at the expense of the children.
The bottom line is that people need to realize that it just doesn't matter. 99.99% of us lead lives that are so boring that nobody cares where we are or what we are doing.
Must everything be measured in "orders of magnitude" on slashdot? Seriously.
OT troll, I know, but it had to be asked.

You should really give Evo 1.4 a try. It has come a long way since then...
This can be avoided by not dual booting to Windows. Not booting to Windows is also known to have other positive side effects. ;)
Lighten up - Its a joke.

Small nit-pick: presumed innocent until proven guilty.
I feel better knowing I'm not the only one :)
Mono has nothing to do with kde vs gnome. With mono you can do qt#, gtk#, coco#, SWF, etc...

I'm submitting patches to the 2.6 kernel for the blue screen of death. I'm hoping they make it in to the next release.
Tell those morons in Accounts-Blackmailable that I'm waiting for my last installment.
Now, where is that "Post Anonymously" check box?
Almost everything improves with age. ;)
A broad definition of "database"
Yea, but is broad enough to include MySQL?
