Basically, SVG can be imported and then used as paths. It also looks like the paths could be exported as SVG. This is not meant to be an "illustrating" program. Paths are nice to get smooth strokes and masks but you would not use this to generate your line art for a new logo or whatever. More likely, you would take the logo, pull the best vectors out of it, save them to SVG and then import it into the Gimp where you could then use that to simplify the creation of your raster based logo.
I could be wrong about all of this since I was unable to build it last night. I would have needed to many updates to my system.:( I guess I'll wait till it goes 2.0.:)
Anyway it's good to see the Gimp rockin' on. I for one hope Sodipodi (pure SVG) gets a boost by the attention SVG is getting from this. - G
Now that you mention it, I realize that I subconsciously draw a marquee (I think that's what it's called) on the desktop after I'm presented with a desktop just to test if the system is really ready to go. When I get good redraws on the marquee, I know the system is ready for business.
Also, did you ever notice how the desktop gets drawn once and then again after a few more seconds? You press start - the menu comes up and then it disappears while being drawn for the second time - now you click and it works. I've always hated that. Let's not copy that implementation. - G

At least the move wasn't done under the guise of SECURITY like MS. You know, I almost single handedly took down MS's whole network by using GAIM. I really shouldn't have used the "buddy pounce" feature so much.;-)
By saying "SCO-ish" do you mean I'm going to have to ignore a flood of never ending Mono posts on slashdot?:(
P.S. I dig Mono and wish it the best. It's in fact the reason I first looked into Linux - coming from a windows world. In one short year I've moved all our servers over from Win 2000 and our company's database to PostgreSQL (loving it by the way). While we still use Win on the desktop we hope to use our existing C# code and Mono to change that. Time will tell.... G
Well I have the deal of a lifetime for you all. I'm selling a baby seat for less than "a song"! In fact, where the bidding is now, you could buy 64 baby seats "for a song"!
Well, guess that might change if I could get over 10000 page views. No I'm not trying to bring up the price of my baby seat (I'm sure it will get sniped at the last second for 5.01), I'm just showing how a little attention can really make things lop-sided. Enjoy the bidding...suckers!
G
P.S. The numbers are sure to change with 6 days left. By that time you'll be able to buy lots of crap for a song!
Maybe they could just make them smaller like Oreo is doing. Smaller Oreos means lowering the risk of getting fat. The new smaller web cookies might not be as big of a security risk.

If you do it is Mozilla it gives you this (lot cooler that a blue screen):
And the beast shall be made legion. Its numbers shall be increased a thousand thousand fold. The din of a million keyboards like unto a great storm shall cover the earth, and the followers of Mammon shall tremble.
... Add to that the fact that anyone calling me on my cell wanted a "favor"; together those two things gave me all the excuse I need to get rid of it. After 7 years or being tied to the world, freedom couldn't feel any better!
Snip from my past life....
RING...... ah, hey, my computer stopped working, do you think you...
RING...... hey, this is the BossMan, the Database seems real slow, can you take a look at it...
RING...... hey, I'm putting in this new mother board and I can't get any video. Can you...

Dude... seriously, they are not cousins, not even long lost relatives. I to would like to see how they stack up against each other. But I think it should be framed more like a family feud than a family reunion.

You sound so smart; You think you know everything? You should have known that I don't even know what this "grey-hat" story is (new here - 2nd post - nice to know it so friendly here). Also, you got the one about me not having it installed wrong. Anonymous Coward is right!
GREAT JOB. 9 is everything I hoped 8.2 would be. So I say "Hats off to Mandrake."
(When I put my hat back on, you will notice it happens to be red and will say "null" on it)
You figured me out. I'm conservative. I value traditional values. Hurry, mod me down for being "close minded" and then kiss my ass. G

"LAMP": Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP
Or in my case "LAMP": Linux, Apache, MONO, PostgreSQL.
The truth is that it's sweet to have the right tool for the right job. Gotta love those options!

I'm pretty sure they will not drop the BOMB on the valley - at least untill the job is done! :)
