first: you are right, I should have mentioned that he already corrected him - I should have attached it to the original comment.
second: "Incorrectly" would have been a better choice (a more correct choice). I also could have said "quit spelling things in the wrong way." Unfortunately, I wasn't thinking about it.

The word is CLIQUE! It's french (I believe). Just because people who can not spell start writing it as "click" does NOT make them right. Come on people! Quit spelling things wrong. It only takes a second to look this stuff up on dictionary.com - if we had more people who knew how to spell we'd get fewer kids coming into schools whose parents spelled their names wrong on their birth certificates! I saw tons of that in brazil and I have seen some examples of it here in the US as well. I know a little girl whose name is spelled Mekenzie. Do her parents pronounce it Mee-kenzie? NO - they pronounce it Mackenzie - the way it used to be spelled until people started forgetting how to spell things.
Hyperspace jumps would not work - they were too close to a large gravity source (or so we are lead to believe in the extended Universe - hyperjump near a planetary body involved lots of danger)

go to resellerratings (link somewhere above this post) and check out chiefvalue - they are terrible! They list incredibly low prices and then "fix the error" just before the stuff gets off the truck. Then what you ordered goes all the way back to them, you have to pay almost double what you thought you were going to, and you have to wait at least 2 more weeks to get what you ordered.
If only I could get the damn trailer to work - the imdb link has a pointer for the video detective website that has stuff in WMV - possibly WMV 7 or something. Their ads play just fine, but the video for the trailer never moves. GRRRR
The problem is - most people don't have the money to purchase a nice processor like that. When they listen to DVDs in stereo they end up using the DVD player's crappy dsp to downmix the 5.1 source to a terrible 2.0 (I think some of the players don't even downmix - they just feed left front and right front to the outputs). Yes, some DVDs actually come with a 2.0 track (which makes life great) - but not that many these days do. So for many people it makes more sense to get a cheap 5.1 processor and speaker set.
second? The original order (as published) was 1. Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe 2. Prince Caspian 3. The Voyage of the Dawn Treader 4. The Silver Chair 5. A Horse and His Boy 6. The Magician's Nephew 7. The Last Battle When I was younger (and lacking new things to read) I read all 7 books 7 times in a month (yeah - I read fast and was about 10 or 11 - not much to do at the time). I tried both the publishing order and a Chronological order - I found the original publishing order to be the best. Of course - Mr. Lewis did express a "mild preference" for the newer ordering - but I will be reading them to my children (if they want me to) in the original order in which they were published. check out this page for more info on published/chronological/order in which the books were written. http://www.aslan.demon.co.uk/narnia.htm
This is true for those individual cases - in the short term or in the narrow view it makes sense to lower prices for many americans and lost jobs for those few who work at the factory. But, how great will the affect be when the only thing americans produce is food and marketing? When nothing is manufactured in the US - what will all those people do who worked in the manufacturing industries? we already have tons of people in the service industry - where will the money come from to pay for even more people to work there? If nothing is manufactured here - then all the money used to purchase goods will leave the country - will it come back? The goods we purchase today are often throw away items - even cars have a very low resale value after 10 years. If we are not manufacturing things and receiving money for them - where will the money come from?
"real scientists"
Do you mean climatologists, or do you mean "people who may have a degree in a completely unrelated field of study but are "scientists" so therefore their opinions are just as good as someone who ACTUALLY studies climates?" The original report that the White House started drawing their conclusions from included less than 2000 people - few of which were actually scientists who have climate related degrees.

I can see patches and such via this "network" - but what do you install that comes via the network? Do you purchase all your software online via downloads? or is it via a CD/DVD rom on another network machine?
I realize most people that use Linux probably download updates and new pieces of software from the internet (an extension of a "network" right?) - is that what you do?
Heinlein wrote an interesting story where rather than discovering the explosive properties of nuclear materials, the scientists discovered just the sickness causing potential of radioactive "dust."
The plan then was to spread a radioactive cloud that killed tons of people and made everyone very very sick.
but is the 1x data transfer rates? or is it speed of the rotating disc? If the drive was actually spinning 9 times faster - then a 16x DVD drive would be just as fast as a 144x CD drive - and you'd have disc pieces flying all over the place.
music cds are the only reason for you to have a CD-ROM? Have you installed any software since 1990? What do you use to do a fresh install of your OS? What do you do when you build a new computer?
This is one of the problems I see with most literature (especially Sci-Fi). It is an overly simplistic and optimistic view of society. After seeing the terrorist acts of the last few years, to think that terrorists wouldn't be setting up a lasgun and a shield more often is silly. It reminds me of one of the arguments about the star trek universe: They have World War 3 and then less than 100 years later everyone is united and happy and holding hands. How could that possibly be realistic? In order for that to happen to today's earth World War 3 would have to kill off most of a hemisphere (basically elimiate one side of all of the arguments) before the people could unite themselves.
I think he meant that in the sense that the tech created by herbert (in your mind) was the best eye candy. That's why he said "CG is never good enough for us." The pictures Herbert created in our minds are so awesome that nothing can compare...... or something like that
ha ha ha ha! Slashdot's "search" feature is totally useless! Sometimes it can find recent articles, but in the pastit has proven to be fairly useless for anything more thana month old.
They are still really expensive - but I really enjoyes seeing Ep2 with Digital Projection. I also saw Episode 1 in digital - it was still good but that was a older generation of digital projector. The newest versions are awesome - colors are bright and vivid. Last time I saw one there was no visible pixellation either.

Naughty muppets! I did catch that and I thought "I don't remember the Muppets being "adult themed""

one has an X chromosone, the other a Y - this can be a pretty significant difference.

Did you mean "hoisted by your own petard" or were you just using a cliche instead of coming up with something original?
I wonder if someone has ever built a VCR that uses tubes instead of transistors? You'd need a lot of tubes methinks
