    Why would sony ever agree to this?

    they are planning to use blue ray in the PS3 apparantly and MS are there direct competitor in that area

    it seems madness to hand over control of the codec to MS

    While american support did help alot

    i agree with the original poster

    hitler lost WW2 by invading russia

    the russian weather and resiliance pummeled the german army into oblivion

    if he had directed all those troops at us brits we would of probably taken a much bigger beating and the D-day assault would probably not of been viable or at the very least would of come off a lot worse allowing germany to counter attack

    Because alot of people who like linux are gamers

    i mean take myself as an example

    i have windows on my primary machine for the sole reason that i am a gamer

    if games worked on Linux i would never install windows again

    and id say that there are a lot of people who are in the same situation so with that in mind making linux better for gaming will make it more successful because you win over the gamers who dislike windows

    tbh making google toolbar for web browsers other than IE might be a bit redundant since most of the other browsers are actualy good and already incorporate most of the stuff that the good toolbar has to offer

    its only useful on IE because IE lacks so much functionality

    developers dont make games for linux because of lack of gamers

    gamers dont use linux because of lack of games

    i also got started on wolf3d (and blake stone if anyone remembers that) but i have to disagree with you

    Halo is not bad

    but it is pretty damn average - theres nothing new about it and alot of the levels are extremely repetetive

    though as i said its not a bad game - its just not the amazing mastepiece xbox users built it up to be

    but surely as a lawyer you should know that even if that code is theres (which it probably isnt considering the last lot of code they showed as an example of infringement was all open source code taken from BSD or was released by Caldera themselves) they made it open source when they released it under the GPL when they distributed linux

    you do realise that Nvidia was found to be cheating in those 3dmark results right?

    they inserted static clipping planes and swaped shaders out

    take a look at this article using the latest build of Halo PC and take note of the developer comments at the top

    also tomb raider angel of darkness being a shite game is irrelevent in this matter

    its one of the only DX9 programs out at the moment and so is useful as a benchmark for DX9 performance

    then how come these programs also show Nvidia shader performance as pathetic

    halo PC
    tomb raider angel of darkness
    shadermark
    3dmark03

    and why have the det 50 drivers which nvidia recomended that valve used been proven to reduce image quality by a substantial amount?

    is ATI really rich enough to buy off all of these companies and also manage to sabotage Nvidias drivers and PR team? :P

    its because people base there buying decisions off benchmarks on major games like this

    basicaly they are trying to cheat people out of there money by making the card perform on the most popular games but suck on everything else

    you should be able to run it

    HL2 is able to scale all the way back to direct X 6 standard

    so while you will need to turn off alot of effects you should be able to play the game

    Not true

    synthetic benchmarks have been showing that the geforce FX has poor directX 9 performance

    just everyone dismissed them because they were synthetic benchmarks
