But 221mm^2 ... that's big, bigger than a 130nm Opteron, bigger than a dual-core 90nm Opteron. But wait for 65nm, and you've got something of a manageable size to make a cheaper console.
I don't expect the big core to make Sony back off. The original PS2 core was over 300mm^2 on (IIRC) a 250nm process: a big factor in the endless shortages of the console at the beginning of its life. It wasn't until Sony/Toshiba shrunk the process to 180nm did the shortages begin to ease.

Yeah I'm just a bit concerned with how much of a drag a USB ethernet adapter would be on the system. My concern mostly stems from the fact that USB is a crappy bus. I assume that hooking the WAN to the USB2 port would be better.

Well excuse me for wanting to use this for a router. The only problem with my old PC hardware is that mine is ATX-sized in tower form that is not exactly the quietest nor smallest thing in the world. Excuse me for wanting to do something more with the new Mini.

It's irritating. This rumored machine would only be the latest in a line of Apple computers to come with an anemic 256MB of memory. Same with the iBook, Powerbook, and even the Power Mac. The new $1500 iMac is underspecced too when it comes to RAM.

  25. Not just the subjective elements either on Why Videogame Reviews End Up Being So Controversial · · Score: 1
There are occasions where a reviewer reads off features from the box (or publisher propaganda, take your pick) and puts it into the review, saying x game supports such and such feature (e.g. GBA multiplayer link) but when unsuspecting sucker (me) opens the box and plays the game, finds no such feature in the game at all! WTF, do you imbeciles actually test a feature during the course of a review before you state that it has it?

I have no idea how often this happens but it sure has pissed me off before. It sure makes me question the professionalism of said reviewers. (Why do I keep thinking of IGN when this topic pops into my head?)
