Now that you mention it, it has happened to me once. My bid mysteriously went up a couple of dollars on an item that I was raising my cap on. Bloody hell.
But 221mm^2... that's big, bigger than a 130nm Opteron, bigger than a dual-core 90nm Opteron. But wait for 65nm, and you've got something of a manageable size to make a cheaper console.
I don't expect the big core to make Sony back off. The original PS2 core was over 300mm^2 on (IIRC) a 250nm process: a big factor in the endless shortages of the console at the beginning of its life. It wasn't until Sony/Toshiba shrunk the process to 180nm did the shortages begin to ease.
Yeah I'm just a bit concerned with how much of a drag a USB ethernet adapter would be on the system. My concern mostly stems from the fact that USB is a crappy bus. I assume that hooking the WAN to the USB2 port would be better.
Well excuse me for wanting to use this for a router. The only problem with my old PC hardware is that mine is ATX-sized in tower form that is not exactly the quietest nor smallest thing in the world. Excuse me for wanting to do something more with the new Mini.
It's irritating. This rumored machine would only be the latest in a line of Apple computers to come with an anemic 256MB of memory. Same with the iBook, Powerbook, and even the Power Mac. The new $1500 iMac is underspecced too when it comes to RAM.
Maybe dump GTK+ for wxWidgets? I'm sure it would be a large undertaking but surely the benefits of having native looking widgets and having a version for Mac and Windows that isn't half assed like GTK+ would be worth something?
Am I the only one that thinks that GTK+ is just plain terrible outside of X?
Resident Evil spanned two discs. No doubt the software probably makes a special system call to tell the GC to stop what its doing and allow the user to replace a disc.
There are occasions where a reviewer reads off features from the box (or publisher propaganda, take your pick) and puts it into the review, saying x game supports such and such feature (e.g. GBA multiplayer link) but when unsuspecting sucker (me) opens the box and plays the game, finds no such feature in the game at all! WTF, do you imbeciles actually test a feature during the course of a review before you state that it has it?
I have no idea how often this happens but it sure has pissed me off before. It sure makes me question the professionalism of said reviewers. (Why do I keep thinking of IGN when this topic pops into my head?)
By writing it off last year, they can still claim in shareholder meetings and press releases that they "plan to and are on target to profit in 2008".
UMD's shipped a ton too. How'd they sell? Oh right, so many people bought them that retailers pulled them from store shelves to reclaim shelf space.
I was under the impression that trade secrets weren't given any special protections under the law.

Not from the era featured but I always liked the N64 Super Smash Brothers television spot. Very funny!
Serves him right for not using a digitally signed and approved Internet! How could he trust Lynx?
Yes, but any word on whether these printed discs will be region-locked or not? Because we can never get enough region-locked CD-R's!
That's rather un-American of you to be criticizing your own government!
So when can we launch our own lawsuits against the printer cartels, claiming that they are stealing from us and causing us to lose billions in income?
But companies (corporations like EA in particular) only exist because people allow them to.

Only one built-in ethernet port unfortunately. :(

So that's where the overtime budget went!
How about a mod that let's you take advantage of the Gamecube's SD->memory card adapter without having anything else hanging off the system?

I've heard it described as "about the size of an SD card" but a little bigger.
What a sad day for portable gaming that would be if it comes to pass.
Infinium has a new content partner, and his name is SCO.
Dual screens, dual CPU's means I finally get to run KDE and Gnome side-by-side!
