In regards to #7, what is the SU dialog? My app got a few comments about requesting SU or trying to get root access, but it doesn't. Nor do the permissions allow anything like that. I'm really interested to know what exactly they are talking about, so I can track down the source of the problem. I suspect that it only applies to rooted devices, but I'd like to verify.
The order is designed to protect users from themselves. Many phone owners will try to do harm to themselves and the phone through stupidity, ignorance, or impatience. Those same people will complain and cause the handset manufacturer and carrier lots of problems when the expected outcome of dangerous activities is achieved. What people think they want doesn't always jive with how much they like the outcome.
While there is a place for advanced tools for advanced users, the majority of users aren't advanced. Perhaps a hard-to-enable unlock mode would be appropriate to retain freedoms but not make it easy for people to make themselves unhappy.
Directories as tags were my first thought when reading the parent post. The only way I'll every be able to convert to a tag-based system is if the existing work I've done to organize my files is leveraged into tags.
That, and some analog needs to be available for linking to a static set of data in a simple manner. "Just search for it" doesn't have the same level of simplicity as clicking on a shortcut to where I put an exact set of files for a particular task.
Please try testing in IE next time. It doesn't work for me, which makes this more of a downgrade, than an upgrade. I know nobody likes IE, but remember where many people read/.
I would just get a toolkit that turns a language I already know into something that will run on the iPhone. We call that lazy and smart.

I would say not being on AT&T already counts as a win. I wonder how many what percentage of the business will be new iPhone users and what will be existing iPhone users who are finally able to jump ship (without jailbreaking).
This isn't the Pirate Bay. The point isn't piracy, which is what your suggestion amounts to for US citizens accessing such material hosted offshore. The purpose of PG is to help people excercise their rights to public domain works, as well as to preserve access to them. Proper checks as to the legal status of a work before bringing it in would resolve this problem without resorting to going rogue.
I think both sides should be worked - FF should prevent this kind of thing, and ALL reputable companies should be held to a moral standard to not try shady actions like that. Perhaps if that was the case, any company/individual that tries to circumvent security measures (and that arms race will always have temporary imbalances) should be considered malicious and be flagged by malware software.
I thought they screwed Peter Jackson out of his pay with that creative accounting too, so it surprises me that he'd want to be involved in this affair.

The domain *registration* occurs in the US, therefore the seizure occurs in the US as well. Your examples of China and North Korea are unrelated, as neither country controls the TLDs for.com. Those countries can indeed remove sites on their own TLDs.

Two out of four bars, and it couldn't even do something as simple as transmit voice when connecting a call. More bars indeed. Was about to sat the exact same thing. With Wednesday dropped, there wouldn't be more than a day before service resumes at any point in the week. With Saturday dropped, there are two days with no service at all, which is much more of a disruption.
I was wondering if I was the only one who remembers (or will admit to having watched) Earth Final Conflict. The only good thing that really came from that show was the communication devices - they pulled the screen from a cellphone sized object to make a reasonably large full-video screen (like pull-down blinds).
The power supply doesn't need to by flexible to solve the old problem of balancing phone/device screen size with overall size when you're not using it.
Google won't delete it from your phone. If you are worried, you can back up the app (using something like aston file manager) so you can reinstall it from your memory card later.
As you can install apps from other app markets this doesn't really forbid the app for everyone, it just makes it impossible to find for the majority of users who only shop at the main app store.
The two obvious solutions are to use a live boot CD or removeable drive, or to use virtualization where the virtual disk image has full disk encryption. Neither will work without IT support, as they don't let you do the install yourself (although you could rip the full disk encrypted image after they install it, then reinstall your OS or untouched hard drive).
I suggest the bootable flash drive with encryption. A fully encrypted OS on a bootable flash drive meets all of the requirements, but doesn't put an undue burden on use of personal assets. Unfortunately, your IT staff may not be up to that level of complexity. The solutions are out there, but many IT organizations aren't at the forefront of technology (no funding!).
For your home desktop, if you have a spare drive let them image that. Then dual-boot to your OS when not doing work.
The movies merit badge comes right after the "potato chips and twinkies diet" merit badge. Not sure when the hate crime badge will be introduced, but it's coming.
That's not deciding who gets to procreate, that's deciding who should pay for it. I'm not sure there's a good argument that I should be paying for *anyone* to procreate. While it's up to insurers to decide what they want to subsidize, that gets a little murkier with the coming changes in the US healthcare system.
The inability to differentiate between necessary and desireable medical treatments is a lot of where the healcare issue is rooted. It's a tough problem, but I don't believe real progress will be made until that tough issue is addressed.

It has no effect on the irresponsibility of the parent for leaving a gun lying around. I would expect that result as a possibility regardless of any prior familiarity.
