And the desktop will be desktop sized. It's not the market that the mini is after. Show me an ibm compatable the size of a mini that has the same power and is cheaper, and then you have an argument.
Their ram prices, however are a bit crazy. Usually 1.5x to 2x the price of mid-high quality ram. getting about the same quality ram off the shelf would cost you $160 or so to go from 1gb to 2gb.
I've seen plenty of accessories at places like walmart and target. However, the component cables are only available online through nintendo. Wii Component Cables and it looks like they're back in stock.
I got one of these a few months ago, figuring i'd be able to use it to type faster than I would with the hand writing recognition/on screen keyboard of my lifedrive. Turns out I make enough mistakes, and need to go slow enough with it that the handwriting recognition is faster on it. The On Screne Keyboard is probably the fastest method of inputting (provided you don't have to use symbols and such). I've been meaning to put mine on ebay for the last months, but i'm a lazy bastard.
ROTT has some of the best weapons of any FPS I've ever played (Duke3d is the only one I can think of that can compete). Fire bombing, asbestos suits, drunken missles. Great fun. Never played it against more than one person though. Wonder if you can play it over the 'net like you can with doom (Since rott is open source now). Does anyone know?
Also had really fun level designs for multiplayer. And hey, a bat that shoots baseballs that kill and a dog and god mode!
One thing that I haven't seen mention on here, but have on the apple discussion boards is the wireless problems macbooks have. With the 10.4.7 upgrade they constantly drop your wireless connections. And even before then both my macbook and my girlfriends can't get download speeds higher than 80KB/s. I have to use a RT2500 dongle (Dlink DWL something or another) to get on my wireless. With that I can get 2.3MB/s. Anyone else experienced these problems?
yay for 270s! at one point Dell had a department specifically to deal with 270 problems. We pulled 12 SX270s out of a server farm that have been running for months. 6 of them needed motherboards replaced as they wouldn't boot up after (busted caps). I've called in 3 more since then.
It's basically a button on the side that needs to be pushed in, but to properly do it you squeeze the mouse right there. It's only on one part on the bottom (you can see it in the pictures). You don't actually have to squeeze the area on both sides, just one side will do. It's harder to use purposly than to accadentally trigger it.
What distro are you using? Hibernation works pretty much out of the box in Ubuntu Dapper (if it will work at all) and I believe it's also the case for FC5
Yes, there's raid 6 support in the linux kernel, but it was found out that it was the major cause of Bush to be re-elected. That being the case, I hear it's a lot better now than it was then. Never used it though.
Last time I checked decent HDTV wasn't being shot on $1500 DV Cameras that are highly compressed. They're being shot on $100-500k HD Digital Cameras. Sure, the $1500 is great for your home movies and maybe a real low budget film, but it's not going to cut it for a majority of HD entertainment.
Yeah, I had a cyberman too.. Descent was about the only game that it was good for back then. I had trouble using it for anything else, but kicked ass in descent.
Of course, this comes from a guy who would later kick ass with a joystick/mouse combo in q2 and especially aq2. Of course, it's been so long since I played with a joystick that I just use the keyboard/mouse combo now.. and I get my ass kicked in everygame:(
the nano-itx boards have just started coming out for purchase this last month. Of course, they're still single processor and max of 1ghz w/ fan or 800mhz w/o fan. Kinda a bust considering how long they took to come out.
sp hub is dead.. and it wasn't that bastardly, you just had to register to get on and could only share live music audios/videos that was orginized. And there's 3 main versions of non-mp3 sourced.. the Q101 Release (which I won a copy), the SPIFC Release, and the Virgin In-house promo. all are vinyl source (though there's rumors that there's a non-vinyl master>dat copy around) you can find plenty of smashing pumpkin show traders out there who have a copy and who will do a B&P if you don't have anything to trade them.. just ask on netphoria.org in their trading forum
SACD/DVD-A can hold about 90 minutes of music at it's quality level; not counting the regular cd layer on sacds. you can get a few hours on them if you record them at the same level as cds, but then..what's the point of upgrading when the normal album isn't even 60 minutes.
on the go? the gPhone? I can see it now. Get the apple gPhone and load it up with all your favorite hip hop. The gPhone. For the Thug in everyone
I dunno, the flying overlords seem to be pretty well documented.
Isn't this kind of like Slashpads?
make warppipe.com your first stop. This site will emulate using tabs on the wii browser

yeah, I loved faceball 2000 on the SNES. It was basically a squel to midi maze, which was a FPS for the Atari that came out in '87

Has anyone here tried Parallels for linux? Wondering how well it works compared to VMware workstation/vmplayer.
yeah, black is a Europe only color (strange eh?)

Took me about 8 hours to rebuild a 200gb disk on an 8 disk software raid 5 array using an amd 2500+ and 512mb of ram.

Yes! now I can crate my furry penguin character tux and go try to yiff other hot linux chicks!
with OEM versions you have to install xcode off the cd yourself, so it's still there. (I just got my first mac yesterday)
And it's not form PA :o
